Vehicle Detail

I am looking for a good home for my much beloved 1986 BMW 635 csi. Ideally, I am hoping another 6 Series enthusiast will purchase my Shark. I bought it in 1995 and I am the second owner. I have meticulously maintained this car. Virtually all of the maintenance work was done at my local BMW dealership. I have all service records. About 12 years ago I had the engine head entirely rebuilt at my BMW dealership. The mechanic who did the work is now the general manager of this dealership. In recent years I also had the dealership replace the entire exhaust system, all four wheel bearings, the radiator and numerous other parts. All parts are genuine BMW parts from the dealership. I strove always to keep my car in top running condition. I regularly changed the oil (always Mobile 1) and coolant (genuine BMW coolant and distilled water only) and always replaced the drive belts well ahead of schedule. This car is in exceptionally good running condition and offers an extremely solid and smooth ride. In recent years I had the shocks replaced and all rubber suspension bushings are new. The high performance tires and wheels are brand new. This car's handling characteristics are outstanding. The car tracks perfectly and between the sports suspension and grippy tires, the corning is superb. On some road surfaces, I have experienced a slight shimmy as I transition between 40 mph and 45 mph. I can find no apparent cause for this and have grown comfortable with this characteristic. Several years ago, the odometer stopped working. Because I rarely drive this car, the real milage is only slightly higher than what the odometer currently reads. As you are probably aware, this 635 csi is a true "stick and rudder" sports car. Driving it harkens back the to the hay day of sports car driving. It is a true joy to drive. The interior is in excellent condition. The back seats have almost never been sat in. I am a non smoker and the car's interior is pristine. All window, mirror, seat and moon roof switches are in good working order. All other switches and on the dash work. Several years ago, I had a retro AC system installed and it had been working great until a couple of months ago. My guess is that it simply needs refrigerant, a simple repair. This is a big sports car with big sports car feel. I do not recommend this car for to anyone who is not a serious 635 enthusiast. These cars require proper care and upkeep. You will only enjoy this car if you also enjoy the art and science of car maintenance and upkeep. If this describes you, this car will bring you many years of joy and pleasure as it did for me.
