Vehicle Detail
Here's the story: If you've never owned a Scout, trust me: I have plowed snow many years with everything, and NOTHING outperforms the All Wheel drive Scout 800. Small, maneuverable, fun to drive, has super low gears. I have hooked up moldboard plows and plowed the garden with a Scout. In low gear, I once left the Scout in gear, got out while the Scout crawled through a mudhole, idling at 600 RPM the whole time, walked (not ran) completely around the Scout and sat back down in the driver's seat. The Scout never missed a beat, never slowed down, never slipped. This was bought in Missoula, Montana in 1995 in the condition that you see. My Pa really wanted an old Scout, just like the good old days. It has been stored inside ever since, never outside for even one night. We had bigger plans, just never happened. Your lucky day. Engine - The slant-4 engine was completely rebuilt, the holley single barrel rebuilt, and we put electronic ignition in to get rid of the points. It always started right up. Last time it drove up and down the road was about 2002. That was a few years ago, but the engine still turns over by hand, so my guess is it will run again without much effort. Brakes - No question about the brakes, they are in bad shape. Running Gear - All of the 4-wheel drive stuff works just like it should. Spare Stuff - we are throwing in spare radiator, heater cores, starter, alternator, two good doors in the back of the Scout as you can see. Of course, you can choose the top style, pickup or station wagon or no top at all if you like a windy ride. Gas Tanks - both are solid. We had them cleaned and professionally sealed. Never installed. They are really better than new. Body - not exactly show condition, but you Scout lovers have to admit this is better than most you find parked in the barn. Windows - all intact, and the spare doors have good windows too. Other - I'm also selling on other ebay auctions a snow plow that is came off the old Scout and is designed to fit this Scout exactly and also a Scout Manual that is 1 1/4" thick. I'm selling separately since I figure the same buyer may not want one or the other. Call me at 269-365-4982. I'm on Eastern Time Zone. I'll call you back if I can't pick up the phone.
