Vehicle Detail
1969 Oldsmobile Toronado, 60,383 miles. Power windows, seat, antenna, steering, brakes, tilt and telescoping steering wheel. Runs strong, shifts well and gets attention everywhere. Previous owner had the car painted last year, front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed, new Kumho P235/70R 15 795 Touring A/S radial tires, disc front brakes and drums in the rear. Car was recently tuned with new plugs, points, condenser, rotor, distributor cap and all new spark plug wires. New starter, alternator, voltage regulator & battery installed. New muffler and resonaters. New rear view mirror. Radiator cleaned and flushed, new coolant added. Emission equipment was replaced, (PCV, etc.) No smog test required in California. May qualify for Antique Car Insurance from State Farm, $10/month, 2,000 mile per year limit. Front and rear seat bottoms were just updated with new burlap and foam rubber. Rear seat belts do not show in pictures, they are stowed under the seat. All are serviceable. Air conditioner is not working, reason unknown. Heater/defroster works fine. Radio: Original, non-working AM/FM stereo comes with the car in a box. I removed it to get repaired and found that that idea was very cost-ineffective. All knobs, hardware, etc are included. I was going to replace it but decided my tastes and the new owners may not coincide. New radios designed to fit this car with no modifications are available from a variety of sources. The rear speaker has been removed and the front speaker looks very old but is almost impossible to replace. Under seat and kick plate speakers are easy to add and a dual cone rear speaker can reproduce very good stereo. Spare tire has good rim, poor tire and no jack. Includes owner’s manual and CD of 1969 Fisher Body Manual/Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual. Known problem areas: Small ding on right front fender, small dent in rear window frame on drivers side. Power streering pump has small leak. Steering wheel is showing its age. Previous owner must have had a small dog that scratched the back of the seats. (see pix) Rear shelf is also worn and may need recovering. Drivers door panel shows wear and there are some paint bubbles on the passenger window post. Transmission seal and oil pan gasket have small leaks. Minor discrepancies for a 43 year old car. On Apr-04-12 at 07:26:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Starter has been replaced but occasionally fails to engage flywheel, cv boots cracked. Certified mechanical inspection on April 2 revealed that the heads were probably removed at some point indicating that the valve seats may have been replaced with 'hardened' types.
