2004 SATURN VUE V6 The offered 2004 3.5L V-6 model is the best version to purchase. Besides having plenty of power it has the lowest failure rate of any Vue design. It uses a automatic clutch type transmission with an external oil cooler located in front of the radiator. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO COMPARE OTHER MODELS TO MINE: BEWARE of the other Vue variants listed below they are very costly to repair. The 2.2L 4 cylinder Vue model uses the same engine from a Chevy caviler / Cobalt in the heavier Vue model. It has no power. The timing chain components need to be replaced at a regular interval or it will fail causing permanent engine damage. Saturn also put a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which is a transmission that can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values meaning the trans does not shift like conventional models do. The problem with that design is they all go bad and it could cost $3500-6000 to repair it. The 3.0L V-6 models use a Saab design motor with an oil cooler located inside the engine block. The oil cooler uses the vehicles coolant to maintain a low oil temperature. But the problem with that is the oil coolers fail regularly (mostly due to improper coolant to water ratio), and by the time the operator becomes aware of the issue the engine is already damaged.
