Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE auction for a super rare 1969 AMC AMX in Big Bad Green, originally equipped with a 290/4 speed! Only 284 1969 AMX's came in Big Bad Green, but it gets better - - in 1969, AMC only produced 8,293 AMX's, so 69 AMX's are pretty rare already (compare it to the relatively rare 1969 Camaro Z/28 - Chevy made 20,302 of these). Of these, only 619 came with the 290/4 speed combo. Math makes my head hurt, but rest assured that only a handful of the Big Bad Green 69 AMX's came with a 290/4 speed - - I've only heard of one other. The VIN is A9M397N167XXX. It decodes as: A (AMC), 9 (1969), M (4 sp manual),3 (AMX), 9 (2 door hardtop), 7 (AMX), N (290, 4v), 1 (plant of manufacture), 67XXX is the production sequence number). The car was pretty basic from the factory with manual drums and manual steering. The rear appears to be original; it's a 3.15 open. The car is just as you see it - no engine, no transmission, no driveshaft, no radiator. If you want a 390 or 401 and close ratio T10 for the car, I will consider selling one of my spares, but that's a separate transaction. E mail me for details. Here's the story on this car - - I bought it with the intention of using it for parts for my other 1969 Big Bad Green AMX (an original 390/4 speed Go Pack car). However, when I went to look at the car, I realized that it was an original Big Bad Green car, and couldn't very well cut one Big Bad car up to fix another one. So, after a few weeks of sitting in the driveway, the wife said, "It's either me or the car!" Darn, I'm going to miss her... Just kidding...I'm kind of fond of her, so the AMX has got to go! The car is fairly solid, and certainly can be saved. It's got very nice inner and outer rockers, very nice fender troughs, good floors (has rust behind the seats where they all rust; patch panels are available), decent quarters (they all need lower quarter patches; no exception here, but the driver's side is fairly nice), there is some bondo in the roof, and the trunk is pretty nice (some small areas scaly rust will need to be cut out and patched). The decklid has some rust-through; I would plan to replace it. The passenger door is not original, but the driver's door appears to be. The door glass is out of one of the doors, but I have a spare that goes with the car. The worst part on the car is the radiator core support - it's pretty beat up/patched up, and will need to be replaced. You can buy a reproduction, and the car comes with a used core support that's kind of mangled on the bottom. As you can see from the pictures, the trans tunnel was hacked for access to the 4 speed. You may have noticed that there are two different hoods in the pictures; the factory hood is pretty dented up, so the car comes with a fiberglass hood (as seen in the pictures where the car has no fenders) instead of the factory metal hood. The bumper is beyond repair, as is the driver's fender. The passenger fender does have some bondo, but I think it can be salvaged. The interior is not in great shape. It's missing gauge cluster and just about everything will need to be refurbished or replaced. As you can see from the pictures, there's Big Bad Green everywhere on the car - in the engine compartment, under the windhshield, under the factory undercoating on the chassis and tub, in the trunk, the floors (including under the tarpaper), etc. This is absolutely an original Big Bad Green car. Here's the problem - there's no door tag, so you are missing the documentation for this. I haven't torn the car apart looking for a build sheet, but it may be in there somewhere. Please ask any questions you may have and I will do my best to answer. You are also welcome to come see the car in person. Georgia does not require titles on cars of this vintage; it's sold with a bill of sale. Delivery available within 100 miles for $1 per loaded mile. Car must be paid for in advance. $200 due within 72 hours of auction close (PayPal is fine). Full price due in 7 days of auction close in cash, money order, or wire transfer. All payment must clear before the car moves; no exceptions. Please see my other auctions for AMC parts as well as parts for all makes and models of musclecars. On Apr-05-12 at 08:39:32 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have a feedback total of less than 5 or feedback score of less than 90%, please contact me prior to bidding.
