Vehicle Detail
This is a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST Spyder that is 5 speed manual with turbo. I will be going into detail about the car. I want you to know that I am telling you everything about the car I can. I want to sell it cause I cannot afford to fix it. I am not trying to hide anything from you and by telling you all I know, you will be able to get a good grasp of the car. This good be a good project car for someone or if you have the money get it fixed and start using it. It is a fast car and the turbo was intense. This car was a blast to drive in the summer with the top down! The engine does not work. The mechanic said some of the valves in the cylinder head are bent and crooked. Two of the cylinders have zero compression and the others have 30 and all the valves would probably need to be replaced. One piston is damaged due to high heat and burnt the top of it off. The mechanic said that the valves were burnt by heat mostly. The mechanic recommends to rebuild the motor or replace it. I have owned the car for 6 or 7 months and up until this it was awesome and fun to drive. The Spyder is red and has all factory paint except for the front bumper, driver side fender and door. It had cosmetic damage and I replaced the front bumper and driver side fender and then painted. Body shop did a good job blending the paint with the factory paint. Since the rest of the body is factory it does have small scratches here and there but nothing that really sticks out. It has aftermarket rims which are painted gold with performance tires. There are one or two scratches on the rims but other than that they look good. Has a rear spoiler and a license plate cover that says "Spyder." The convertible top is tan and has glass window with defroster. It does have a patch near the trunk and one of the crossbars needs to be fixed. It does have an automatic switch but does not work so it has to be put down manually. The convertible motors do work, though. Driver side door handle broke off, I have a replacement but its black and will need to be repainted. It does also have an aftermarket exhaust which gives it a good sound as well. All the lights work well except for the reverse lights. There is rust under the hood on the passenger side wheel well and rust located at the rear of the vehicle in the trunk. The interior is black and tan and in decent condition. The leather is tan, drivers seat has cracks, passenger seat has less, and backseat looks the best but this is obvious. The front seats are bucket seats and there is very little room in the back seat. The carpet is in decent condition and has new tan floor mats. It has power windows and the button for the convertible top. It does have power locks but they do not work for some reason, but it does sound like it tries to lock. It is a 5 speed manual with turbo. Shifts nice and easy and clutch is good. It has a Sony Xplod CD player with Sony Xplod 6X9s in the back and pioneer speakers in the front and one of the speaker covers is missing and the antenna needs to be replaced. Cruise control works well, too. Heat works very well, but the AC could use a recharge. The previous owner did do some modifications to the eclipse that i will list. He installed a HKS SSQV 3 blow off valve, aftermarket aluminum intake tube and air filter, the performance muffler, the painted gold rims, and adjustable coil overs. The coil overs allow you to adjust the height of the car on your own. He also replaced the turbo with a rebuilt one. The short time I have owned this car I treated it well. Oil changes always on time and checked the fluids regularly. I have receipts for most of the costs of the car such as engine work which costed upwards of $1700 including maintenance and the rebuilt turbo. The coil overs were professionally installed which cost about $360 not including the coil overs themselves. The body work that was done cost about $1300. Again, I have the receipts to show the work done. You will have to be able to pick the car up yourself or arrange for it to be shipped.
