Vehicle Detail
Hello. Up for auction is my 1978 Lincoln Town Car. I am the second owner of this beautiful car that has 17,109 ORIGINAL documented miles. It is on of the most original, solid, unmolested Town Cars you will find. It is equipped with the optional 460 cubic inch big block and automatic transmission. The car runs, drives, shifts, steers, stops excellent, as you would expect from a 17k mile car. The car goes down the road with a very "solid" feel and there are no rattles, bumps, or strange noises of any kind. There are no leaks and no spots on the garage floor at all. The interior is a burgundy velour and is in flawless original condition. There are no rips tears cracks or anything at all in the interior. The trunks has all the original curtains and is spotless clean. The original spare tire is present and has never been out of the trunk! The engine bay is 100% original and unmolested. It has not been "detailed" or "painted up" at all like you see so many others. I just prefer my cars to be original that way. The vinyl top is excellent as well, as seen in the pictures. All of the chrome trim and bumpers are in great condition and shine VERY well, as you can see (it was very sunny today). The Lincoln's original finish color of Cordovan Metallic is like a very dark burgundy and shines very, very well. It does have the normal nicks, scuffs, and such one would expect to find on a 34 year old car. The only 2 "beyond normal" spots that I can fault the paint on are, a scratch on the drivers door about 2 inches long where it appears something brushed against it while parked (can't even see in the pics, but it's there) and a few pea sized chips in the trunk lid that were touched up sometime in the past with what I'm sure was the little nail polish like touch up paint, and the shade of touch up paint is off a little. Both of these issues aren't blatantly noticeable until you get close, and do not take away from the presence of the car, I just want to be totally up front in the description. The Lincoln was undercoated when it was new and is 100% solid underneath. I even had it put up on a hoist and took a picture to show this. I also took a picture of the bottom of one of the door seams to show how solid and original the body is. It is equipped with the somewhat rare factory CB radio, and the very, very rare garage door home link option as well. There is a "garage" button just below the vanity mirror on the drivers visor (see pic). It is fully loaded with power options as you would expect on a Lincoln of this era as well, windows, locks, tilt, cruise, etc etc. As seen in the undercarriage shot, I recently had a new exhaust put on (3 weeks ago) because the muffler developed a rattle inside (which drove me nuts!) and so I had everything from the y-pipe back professionally done. Also included with the car is the original owners manual and protect-o-plate. If you have ANY questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer any that you have. A PayPal deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of auction end, and full payment must be made within 7 days of the end of the auction via certified funds. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer, however I am willing to work with you shipper to arrange pick-up. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
