Vehicle Detail

For sale; One adult-owned (professionally employed), 1989 Katana 750 Motorcycle. I've owned this motorcycle for 4 years now but it's time to let it go. The history as I know it; I purchased this motorcycle from Suzuki technician who worked at a dealership where the bike was abandoned. In order for the dealer to be able to title/register it they had to replace the frame with one from a 1989 Katana 750. Everything else is from a 1994 Suzuki Katana. I never verified this through engine numbers, etc. as it wasn't that important to me. However, when I bought it, it was the color and had the stickers of the 1994 model. I.e. purple wheels, black plastic, purple seat, etc. As such, however, it is being sold as a 1989 model year. New Hampshire does not require a title for motorcycles of this age so therefore this motorcycle is being sold with a bill of sale only. If your state requires a title contact them to see how to register it. Condition: The engine has a low 11600 miles on it. If you know about this engine, you know it is bullet proof. With Suzuki's SACS cooling system (oil spraying the bottom of the pistons to lubricate and cool them) the engines last a very long time if taken care of. However, this motorcycle is NOT running currently. I had it tuned at the local Suzuki dealership at the end of season 2010. Put it in storage and have not started it since (I have other motorcycles). I tried starting it recently and it turns over but will not fire. I called the Suzuki dealership who told me that the way gasoline is made now, it gums carbs up very quickly. It has a new fuel petcock (2010). They wanted $400 to clean/sync the carbs. I decided since I have others I would just sell this as non-running. Bid accordingly. The plastic is in great condition. The only negative regarding the plastic is the lower fairing on the right side has a small hole I repaired which broke again when my son tipped the bike over in the driveway. The Paint as you can see it is custom painted and clear coated in a P-51 Mustang motif. Complete with authentic stencils, custom "nose art" stickers and authentic-style kill flags. I received an unbelievable amount of positive feedback about the cool factor of this paint job. I've had countless people taking pictures of the motorcycle during bike week in Laconia, NH. The paint is in good condition other than the tank where my tank bag melted through the clear coat and some of the base color coat =( (see pictures). As such the tank bag will be included since you cannot tell when the tank bag is on. The tires are brand new (2010) with less than 500 miles on them (probably more like 150) and still have the "nubs". The back tire is an IRC RX-01 Road Winner (150/70-17) while the front is a matching IRC RX-01 (120/70-17). The seat vinyl (original purple) was replaced with black marine-grade vinyl and is in great condition. All lights and gauges worked when parked. I installed auxillary fog lights for both looks and function and keeping with the fighter motif use an aircraft-style toggle to turn them on/off. What it needs: 1. Carb clean/sync; 2. A new windscreen. I cracked it today!!! arrrgghhh! Moving it around in my shed to clean it up and take pictures. I had cracked it during the original installation but used oversized washers to hide the first crack at the mounting point. Not this time I'm afraid; 3. New kickstand springs. The springs are weak and consequently the kickstand falls just enough to disengage the safety switch. This is a Non-reserve auction starting at $500. If the motorcycle bidding ends at $500, so be it. That is a risk I'm willing to take. This motorcycle is not museum quality by any means but would be a nice starter bike, albeit a slightly powerful one, that you wouldn't be afraid to learn on. I would put an overall value of $1500-2000 on the motorcycle but am willing to sell it at whatever the bidding ends at. A $300 non-refundable deposit via PayPal will be required immediately after the auction is ended with final payment due within 7 days of auction closing. If you have any questions please call Dan at 603-998-0222. Please note!! Your winning bid is not a right to inspect the bike. It is a binding contract. If you're the high bidder, you bought it. This a NO RESERVE auction and SOLD to the last bidder. I require you to make contact by phone at auctions end. Will cancel buyers with 0 feedback unless prior arrangements have been made. No shipping is available. Local pick up only please. serious eBayers only please. On Mar-08-12 at 05:18:52 PST, seller added the following information: Please Read...I've had to cancel 0 feedback bidders already. If you have a new profile with zero positive feedback or you have a lot of negative feedback, I will cancel your bid. It is expensive to list a motorcycle and to protect myself from scammers I will delete your bid. I apologize for the "real" newbies out there trying to buy a motorcycle but I'm going to choose safety over greed here. Thank you for your understanding.
