Description: Rare 1957 Corvette Convertible Soft Top in largely original condition but has been professionally repainted and had a new top installed. Vehicle is one of 1040 made with the Factory Mechanical Fuel Injection. Vehicle underwent a considerable amount of work approx. 3 years ago to bring the car into running condition. Car starts with very little provocation and was just recently driven 40 miles at freeway speed without problems. All Auction requirements must be adhered to. Please see photos below the Auction Terms. Engine: 1957 283 CID (see photos for engine number), Factory Rochester Mechanical Fuel Injection, Engine has a Racing Cam that is still streetable but has a distinctive lope at idle. Distributor is a Mechanical Advance with a Mechanical Tach Drive. Vehicle is still equipped with a Generator. Engine still has a Breaker Point Distributor. Engine Compartment is very clean. Exhaust: Dual Exhaust with Headers and Cutouts. Probably Flowmaster Mufflers but they are relatively quiet. Trans: Factory 4-Speed. Rear Axle: Rear Axle Ratio we believe is either 3.70 or 4.10. Interior: On a 1-10 scale, 10 being best (concourse condition) is about an 8.0 to an 8.5. On Gauge on the dash has cracked glass. The OEM Speedometer and Tachometer do not work. Body: There is a history of the car having been involved in a collision that required repair to the Left Front Corner. Repairs were done professionally by a shop that does Fiberglass work. Hood closes well, there is some evidence of a minor repair to the drivers door inside just above the door stricker. All exterior glass is intact without issues. Both doors open and shut well and door windows work correctly without problems. Overall the fiberglass body looks good but has a couple of paint chips (see photos) around the fuel tank door. There is a crack in the left rear fender that is about 2 inches long. There is an assortment of small superficial finish cracks in various places around the hood and fenders and a scratch on the Passenger door. Stainless Trim on the sides of the Body has seen better days. Side Emblems are in xlnt shape; front and rear are aged looking with some cracking consistent with items that are 55 years old. Bumpers, front grille and remaining Chrome Trim are in good condition. Convertible Top: Good Condition – the car has been garaged for the last 3-4 years and the top was folded down during that time. It appears if the top were exposed to some heat in the raised position most of the wrinkles in the canvas would come out. The plastic rear window is clear and in good condition. Frame: It appears within the Engine Compartment the frame may have been notched to clear the Headers (see photos), but if so, it was done very cleanly. Other items: Rear Tail Light Lenses do not appear OEM and the Hardware used to attach them isn’t. Trunk: Very Clean inside. Unsure if the wood work inside the trunk is original, but if it was replaced, someone did a very nice job doing it. Brakes: OEM Drums all 4 wheels. Operational and Emergency Brakes are fully functional. Tires and Wheels: Aftermarket Mag Wheels with BF Goodrich T/A Radial Tires - Fronts are 215/60R15s and the Rears are 255/60R15s. Additional Parts: > Complete rear axle carrier, unknown ratio. > 1959 283 Short Block with Rods, Pistons and Crank. > Approx. 6 - 1 cu. ft. boxes of NOS (New Old Stock) Parts - Brake Shoes, Brake Cylinder Parts, Spark Plugs, Tune Up Parts, and a hodge podge of other odds and ends, some of which is Chevrolet, but may not belong to the Vette. I did not do a inventory of these. Head Turning Vehicle. Owned by Adult Non-Smokers with NO pets. We believe this vehicle to have almost every option available. Legal Stuff: > What is discussed in the title bar or specified in the auction text is what is included with the auction. > Winners will be automatically be contacted by eBay via e-mail. > Buyers MUST contact the Seller immediately. > Mileage may be slightly higher at time of delivery. > Payment Terms are as follows: 1) At close of auction the Buyer will receive an invoice through Paypal for a $500 non-refundable deposit that will be processed within 24 hours of receipt. This Paypal payment will be for an immediate transfer – no E-Checks will be accepted. If you don’t have a Paypal Account, go to www.paypal.com well in advance of the end of the auction and open one. 2) A Cashiers Check from a major Banking Institution (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase etc.) will be required for the balance. This check will be processed by the Buyer immediately and forwarded via USPS Overnight Mail to the Seller. 3) Prior to deposit, the authenticity of the Cashier’s Check will be verified. Once funds have cleared (usually 3-4 days) then Seller will notify Buyer so that Shipping arrangements if deemed necessary can be arranged. 4) Once funds have cleared, Title to the vehicle along with any related documents or paperwork will be sent to the Buyer via USPS Priority Mail unless other arrangements have been made. 5) Any Fees related to Shipping (and Insurance during such), Title Transfers, Inspections, Licensing either within or outside of California, Emission Testing, Taxes, Notary Fees or Bank related amounts will be the Buyer’s responsibility. No exceptions. > No Shipping outside the Continental United States, Alaska or Hawaii. We won’t ship to Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic. > Requests to ship to areas beyond what is specified will be ignored. > Local Pickup is allowed and encouraged. Title and the Vehicle will not be released until Funds have been verified and have cleared the Seller’s Financial Institution. Buyers will be asked for Identification upon Pickup. We would be happy to deliver this vehicle for a fee to them once the Buyer has provided a DAS BIN or Bill of Ladden Tracking Number.
