Your bidding on a VERY NICE -"Low Reserve price"....1966 Mustang Convertible, 289 V8, Auto Trans, Power Steering, Power Convertible top. This is a rare model 1966 as only 3100 mustangs were ordered with a bench front seat. The bench seat does have a center fold down arm rest and has the appearance of twin bucket seats. This Mustang is painted in Mustang Metallic Silver Frost, Ford Factory #4. The car is number 311397 in production from the Dearborn, Michigan plant. This 1966 Mustang was gone thru several improvements. The 289 V8 engine was rebuilt, starts easy, runs good. The carburetor (Autolite 2100 2 bl) has just been recently overhauled (November 2011). Much of the restoration has been completed. There have been a lot of new parts added to the car, as you will see from the photos. All chrome bumpers, emblems, are new. New car battery (Dec 2011). New Power Steering hoses. The convertible top is new, in a Sierra Grain Vinyl, and the plastic folding window is in excellent condition with no folding or yellowing from the sunlight. All Mustang emblems are new, outside door handles are new. Engine wise, the car runs well and there is no reported engine problems. New spark plugs have been installed, recently tuned and timed. The car has a newer radiator. The brakes are all in good condition and the 14" tires are new. The undercarriage is in good shape, and there is some very minor rust as to be expected in a car over 45 years old. The gas tank is fairly new. Trunk compartment looks great. The engine compartment is very clean, and the engine compartment is braced with an extra truss support as shown in the photos. The oil is very fresh. Mileage shows 38,265. I can not attest that the mileage is original especially after 45 years of driving. The car is very clean and turns lots of heads for its appearance and outside condition. The car has new twin dual exhaust, and the end tail piping actually flows thru the rear body work. You will find that not many 1966 Mustangs that have dual exhaust flow thru the body work. In addition the dual exhaust is "real dual exhaust". The exhaust is fairly new and is not a crossover from one muffler into two pipes. This Mustang has 2 mufflers, so the sound is brisk. The interior seating in the front is considered rare, as this 1966 Mustang supports a front "bench seat". The center of the bench has a fold down armrest, and the upholstery is in good shape. Overall the car looks beautiful painted in the Metallic Silver Frost #4 paint, especially in sunlight. Carpeting is good, and the interior supports modern Mustang logoed floor mats. The inside window cranks and door handles are new. The glass of all of the windows is in very good shape with no chips or cracks, and the glass appears to be orginal. The dash board is new with a custom adjustable Electro Luminescent Instrument Panel, which is very nice, with adjustable brightness and color, blue or green. Sun visor chrome brackets are new, trunk mats new, side seat mouldings are new, new headlights have been installed. There are some aspects of the interior that could use improvement which I will address. I strive for 100% FEEDBACK on anything I buy or sell on eBay, so I want to be 100% transparent to any buyer. For the price being offered and "low reserve" it is very nice indeed and it shows very well. Many improvements have been made, including new paint, all new chrome bumpers, outside door handles, new convertible top, new rear window in the new top, all new Mustang orginal emblems etc. First of all with over 1,000,000 - 1966 Mustangs produced there are many distributors of 1965 and 1966 Mustang parts and accessories. It is simply amazing the restoration instructions, forums and parts availability via the internet. Any part you need from screw sets to wiring to new seating can be found via the internet. I am including a brand new (boxed) custom Grant wood steering wheel, that just needs to be put on the steering column, photo is shown. The new Grant wood steering can be stained and finished to your own custom selection of wood finishes. Perhaps just a clear coat of Poly-U would be nice. The car needs a new turn signal switch, which costs about $40.00 and can be installed when installing the new Grant steering wheel. I am not sure how to repair the turn signal switch myself. I am told it is a minor repair. I have many new parts from new rubber moldings, screws and other pieces that will come with the car. The average 1966 Mustang now sells for $18,400. A mint fully restoration 1966 convertible 289 V8 will run upwards of $27,000 to over $35,000.The Mustang is still a considered a classic American Icon especially the original body style of 1964 1/2, 1965, and 1966. The change in body style came about in 1967. My starting price and "low reserve" is set "well" below the average of the $18,400, so that if you want to make additional improvements, repairs, you can still be "well" under the average pricing currently for a 1966 Mustang convertible. This would make a nice starter classic collector, or a nice car for a son, daughter, wife, or even yourself, especially if you have ever dreamed of owning a 1965 or 1966 pony.
