Vehicle Detail
You are biddig on my beloved 1979 CBX. I have owned this bike since 1989 and I bougt it with 3,000 miles on it, so I have owned it most of its life. I always used this as my "good" bike and never as a daily rider. I lost my right leg last year and I just can't ride it with my prostetic. The biggest problem I have is I can't get it up on the center stand and we know how important that is on a CBX. The bike is all pretty much stock, but I have done some up dates to it: bronze bushings on the swing arm, I had the swing arm powder coated black, new tires (Dunlop), new rear brakes and I just put a brand new Deca battery in it yesterday. When I got it it had a ding in the tank and scuff on the tail. I had them both repainted by a friend of mine that restores cars for a living so the repaint is flawless. I had new decals installed that I bought from Tim's CBX. Oh yea, a few years back I had the carbs rebuilt and fork seals put in it. The bike isn't perfect, it needs hand grips the gauges and contols have the tipical fade of a 33 year old bike. I could also use a new petcock, the one in it is orginal and it leaks. Its a been a great riding bike and if you are looking for one to restore that hasn't been altered this is it. Its been setting for over a year and when I got it out of the garage the front brake seened to be sticking, it's never done that before. Another reason for me to get rid of it, nothing hurts a bike more than to leave it set. Someone else can get some enjoyment out of this bike like I have. Everyone looks at the Harley's and the choppers at bike night, but you come pulling up on this bike it really draws a crowd! I Know the big question is how is the exhaust. The right side is in nice shape maybe some rust up by the head, the left side has got a decent sized scuff on it and if you restored it, it should be replaced. The licence plate holder doesn't look like the correct one for the bike, I bought a replacement one on e-bay and the guy sent me one that was all bent up, so I never got around to replacing it. Also when I bought it, on the gas tank it was airbrushed "Life in the Fast Lane", being a Joe Walsh fan, I had left it on there when I had the tank repainted. I hope I haven't been to long winded on this bike. I have rode and enjoyed this bike for almost half my life, but as I said, I simply can't ride it any more. I never figured I would sell it. If you have any questions please email me or you can call me at 517-759-2676 my name is Todd. I live in southeast Mi and my zip is 49221. Any shipping will have to be taken care by the buyer. With all the scams going around I would like **cash**. I would also like a $500 deposit sent to me via paypal within 48 hours of the auction, but I don't want the entire amount put on there. Please no international buyers. I am starting the auction for what I feel is a fair price but it is a no reserve auction. The vin is CB12001836 so it is a very early model in '79. Good luck bidding!!! I just discovered I didn't put in the listing on how it runs or anything. The bike runs and rides great, I always kept the mantiance up on it and since I owned it I always ran Mobil One in it. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
