Vehicle Detail
Auction is for a beautiful classic 1979 Mercedes 300D. Rock solid motor and transmission. I bought this car from the original owners son, making me the third owner. Car is in excellent condition for the year. Always kept in a garage. Original paint is in great condition. Being a classic the car does have a few issues that will need to be addressed. The rear seat at the very top has a rip. Also the passenger seat has a small tear. See pics. The a/c does not blow cold. May just need freon, I am not sure. Never looked into it. The drivers window is the only one that rolls down. Again, may just need switches, never looked into it. Overall the car is in amazing condition for its age and would need very little work to be perfect. Even with 350000 Miles it passed Arizona emissions with flying colors. It runs great and could easily be driven as a daily driver. These cars are well known to see 600000 miles. If you are looking for a perfect car this may not be the one for you. But, if you are looking for a reliable classic Mercedes, that with little effort and money could be made perfect, then don't let this one pass you by. This is one of the nicest I have seen. It is 100% original from front to back. It still has the original first aid kit and all it's contents. Has original tool kit and manuals!! Plus, it also comes with a Chilton Manual.........It's rust free!! Interior is a 9 out of 10 because of the tears. I am currently averaging 35 mpg in this classic diesel. I recently replaced the battery and alternator as well as the oil pan gasket. This is really an amazing classic. It is well known that they are bullet proof if serviced on a regular basis. I am only selling because my obsession lies in classic BMW's and I need the room. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. I will be happy to work with your shipping company for out of state buyers. On Mar-03-12 at 11:40:47 PST, seller added the following information: Since posting this auction I took the car in to my mechanic to have the car looked over so that I could better answer some of your questions. Mechanic told me everything on the car looks good mechanically. He suggested that two things be addressed in the near future. He said that the motor mounts will need replaced and that the arm that connects to the transmission and controls shift points, will need to be adjusted. He said the cars shift points are adjusted just a little high. He also installed a new steering stabalizer shock. He said the old one was worn out. Thanks for looking!!
