As Jaguar retooled its Coventry facility to produce the XJS convertible they contracted with Hess and Eisenhardt (H&E) coachbuilders in Cincinnati, Ohio to build this extraordinary car. The H&E convertible is distinguished from the later Coventry versions by a convertible top that folds completely into the body providing a clean lower profile and two distinctive H&E badges on the front quarter panels. This particular car has been carefully maintained by the current owner for twenty years. It has always been garaged. For the last ten years the car has been garaged at the owner’s vacation home in Florida and driven rarely. Cosmetically the exterior is flawless English white in color with no rust. The interior seats and panels are covered in tan Connelly leather hides with no tears or rips. The interior also features a custom Nardi wood steering wheel and burled walnut panels throughout. The electrically operated convertible top and tonneau cover match the interior hides in color. Mechanically, the car has also been maintained in excellent condition. Currently the car needs front shocks and replacement of rear electric window switches.
