Beautiful 1972 Volkswagon Karmann Ghia Looks and Runs Great!Before all work below was completed this vehicle was appraised (dated September 2, 2011) at $8000 Body is almost totally rust free except a few small bubbles on the lower edge of the deck lid. All original uncut or modified, the paint job is new and looks wonderful from 20 feet away, to make it even better I would recommend wet sanding and buffing to remove the small imperfections in the surface. The color is grabber blue. The chrome bumpers were removed and replaced with fiberglass after market and painted same color as car. Body molding and logos are all new as well as front and rear windows. All body gaskets such as boot, bonnet, doors, glass, are all new. The body has the usual ripples or waves for a car of this age. The decision was made not fill the car up with bondo to make her smooth but instead solid metal with paint. Front suspension totally reworked, gas tank flushed and clean, new sending unit, steering box has some play but not excessive. Interior, new carpet front and rear, custom fit floor mats, new headliner, new door panels, new center console (ABS), grant steering wheel, empi lock out t-shifter, new ignition switch assembly and key switch, late model cloth covered bucket seats, with power driver side, back seat has been removed and replaced with a smooth package area (rear seat could be replaced easily as no body modifications were made). Things that you could do to the interior that we did not elect to do are: horn, heater cables (heater boxes and all components are still in place) we just did not put in heater cables, windshield wiper motor, turn signals were not wired back in at the lights after reassembly from paint. In short, no turn signals, horn, wipers or heat. Good news, motor completely rebuilt less than 1500 miles ago, including pistons, rings, crankshaft with degree pulley, cam, bearings, heads, gaskets and seals, oil pump, fuel pump, 009 distributor, silicon wires, carburetor, chrome molly gland nut, reconditioned fly wheel, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch cable, solid mount transmission (rear), alternator with chrome pulley, cv axles/joints, engine compartment clean and detailed with black rhino liner type product, all finished off with a beautifully sounding stock looking baffle free exhaust system with large diameter chrome tips. She rides on top of empi 8 spoke mag wheels with new over sized tires for a very nice ride. This car was built for the love of my life and she does not want it to go away. The only reason we listed this is we just bought her a Convertible. Our garage is not big enough for all our toys and Ghia lost her spot because of the convertible.
