Vehicle Detail

Here for sale is my 1987 Mercedes Benz 300D 6cyl turbo diesel; AKA “Ol’ Blue”. We’re anticipating a move for work, and at least one of the cars has to go. So here it is, ready for a new home. This beautiful 124 series car has the desirable and powerful 6 cylinder turbo diesel OM603A engine, and has just turned 200,000 miles. “Blue” has been my commuter for the past year or so, and gets a steady 29-31 highway MPG depending on how big a hurry you’re in… I bought Blue in Reno from an individual, and it’s a pretty solid car, as you can see. Although the windshield is cracked, there has been a little contact damage on the right front fender, and some paint has come off the hood, I can’t find any rusty areas on the car and it’s still a good looker. Blue has a few minor leaks like most “mature” cars; but nothing too major. The tires are in very good condition, the Firestone (non-studded) snow tires are near new. All the important features are working on this car, so it’s probably easier to list the few that aren’t: The tachometer and cruise control (maybe related), the headlight wipers (of dubious value or utility anyway), and the A/C. The heat works well and seems to follow properly with the thermostat, and the blower is quite strong. All the power windows work, as does the sunroof. Although some of the buttons are missing from the front seat adjusting controls, all the motors seem to work, the seats are fully adjustable, and the driver’s side memory works perfectly. This car starts very easily after cycling the glow plugs, even on those single-digit mornings. And like most Mercedes, it warms up pretty quickly. Shifting is quite positive, albeit sometimes a bit stiff at lower speeds. There are no weird noises or slipping, and it seems to run at a very nice, sedate RPM level at highway speeds; this is not a loud diesel like my old 240D! Blue just likes to run and run, and is very comfortable at 65-70 MPH with plenty of power still in reserve. I have 2 keys for this car; one operates the ignition, while the other operates the driver’s door and the trunk. The automatic locks function perfectly as well, including the fuel door lock, and unlocking or locking the door or trunk operates all the locks together. The interior is in good condition with the usual dashboard cracks and minor wear on the driver’s seat, and it’s a very comfortable car to sit in as well. The Sony stereo sounds pretty good as well, but doesn’t like to play CDs. The power antenna raises and lowers automatically as it should. There is a spare tire, jack, and lug wrench, but the rest of the tools are missing. No floor mats are included. All in all, it’s a great old diesel with many, many miles and years of reliable service left in it. Please note, we are not interested in any trades, and cannot accept payment in installments; full payment in CASH is required within 7 days. We WILL NOT ACCEPT any sort of cashiers checks or "money grams". This car is in Fernley, NV; near Reno.
