Vehicle Detail
1971 Pontiac GTO Convertible reposession in Memphis One of 661 GTO convertibles produced for model year 1971. This is a real GTO and not a clone. I am proud to offer the Ebay community this 1971 Pontiac GTO Convertible repossession . I recently attended a capital one reposession sale, and I bought unit from cap one. This GTO was sold in Atlanta, Ga and supposedly was fully restored but the owner failed to make his or her payments, so the car was reposessed. I have clear title for this unit. This pontiac will be sold "as-is, where-is". Who knows what happened to the prior owner, loss of job?, died?, divorce? We were told there was a balance of over $45,000 owed on this unit when it was repossed. As you can clearly see, the car looks to be largely complete. At the time of the bank auction, the auctioneer stated that the car was one of 661, and that it was registered with the Pontiac historical society. He also asserted that it was a "frame off" restoration. While I am unsure if it was "frame off", I can say it was repainted, and the upholstery looks recent, as does the top. The car has been sitting for perhaps a year during the repossession process, and as such will need to be sorted out to be driven. I took these photographs at my auto dealership in Memphis,Tn last week on 2/12/12. What you see is what you get. You are bidding on the car "as-is" and "where-is". I do know that the engine does run. It may need a tune-up / repair as when I started it , it was backfiring through the carburator. The engine sounded decent. I have driven it down the road to verify that it does shift. This would be a great car for an enthusiast who knows how to sort out cars. I have been underneath the car and I can verify that it is a solid southern car with good floors. This is a rare vehicle. Only 661 were built world wide in 1971. How many remain today? This would be an easy restoration project for a Pontiac enthusiast this Spring! You won't see this car on every corner. It's quite a rare bird... Interior appears to be in reasonably nice condition. Car has a hidden stereo in the glovebox and the original still in the dash. Here's a few more detail shots. Rear differential. I'm no Pontiac expert, but I did verify that the vin # is a GTO convertible. The vin on the title is visible below. The bank also said the car had matching #'s but I have no way to verify this. I'm not a GM expert and would not know where to look. If you want to call, I'd be glad to look wherever you want. Cell is 901-870-3347 Clear FL title for the unit. Unit sold "as-is" "where-is". I will assist in arranging shipping. I can deliver anywhere in the world and would be glad to assist.
