Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1960 Plymouth Fury 2 door hard-top. I purchased the car in 1990. At the time I purchased the car, it was in storage with a blown engine. The car had been repainted and reupholstered sometime in the 70's or 80's. The car was repainted and reupholstered again in '90-'91. Mechanical: The blown engine was replaced with a similar 318 from a '64 Plymouth that was rebuilt. The '64 3 spd manual tranny was also used instead of the '60 tranny. The rear end is original to the car. This combination resulted in no parking brake because in '60 the brake was on the tranny and in '64 the brake was on the rear end. The other issue is the gear ratios. The resulting drive-train is geared for a lower top speed but its quicker at low speeds. It is a blast to drive and sounds great. It is due for a tune-up. The brakes work but it needs new pads and the cylinders needs a rebuild or replacement. Body: There was significant rust damage under most of the chrome trim when it was removed in '90 for the repaint. There was also bondo repairs found in the fin areas and a little bit in the front fenders and doors. Several rust holes were repaired with fiberglass before being recovered with chrome. There may be a few small rust holes in the floor boards. The car looks great from a distance and the paint still shines after a wash and wax but it is not perfect. It is starting to bubble in a few small areas. This car needs someone who has the time and space to return it to its original state. It has a broken Fury trim piece on the front fender but otherwise all trim is present. The chrome is getting dull. Interior: The steering wheel does have some cracks. The headliner is rough, but present. The carpet was replaced with new black carpet in '90 and is still in good shape. The door panels and seats were recovered in '90. They are in decent shape, but not original in styling. The dash was and some trim was repainted as well. The fuel gauge and clock do not work. The fuel gauge is probably the sending unit. There is no radio. There are no power options on the car. I do have a 1960 Dodge Pioneer that I bought as a parts car. It is mostly complete and will be listed on eBay as well. I live in Long Beach, CA but the car is being stored on my families farm in Aurelia, IA (northwest Iowa). My father will be available to show the car and assist with loading. A non-refundable deposit of $500 due within 24 hours of the auction end. The remainder of the payment is due within 10 days of the auction end. Payment is due before or at the time of pick-up. Please contact me with any questions. I will do my best to get back to you within a day. Thanks for looking and good luck!
