Up for auction is an exceptional 1985 Mercedes 300td wagon. My Husband and I bought this car two and a half years ago with plans of keeping it forever as my commuter. I have loved this car and have thoroughly enjoyed it, but, the truth is that I am now working from home. On with the details- To make a long story short, my husband is a European auto mechanic with a reputation for being very meticulous. When I decided that this is what I wanted, we searched high and low for the "right" car. With the help of my husband, we soon decided that we couldnt purchase a car that had been molested, had rust, body damage, etc etc.. After months of searching, this is what we came up with. This car is a very clean example all the way around with an excellent color combination- ascot grey on blue. I have only driven this car approx 15k miles. Since we purchased it and it has had EXTENSIVE maintenance and general work done with all genuine or German parts. The list is as follows: -automatic transmission service- gasket/ filter/ MB fluid -valve adjustment, new valve cover gasket -new BOSCH injectors -new BOSCH glow plugs -new fuel hoses/ return hose/ all vacuum hoses replaced -new fuel filters every 5,000 miles -new interstate battery -new vacuum pump seal -new power steering hose/ filter/ fluid -new accumulators for the rear suspension, new filter and fluid -new OEM AC compressor, expansion valve, pressure switch, Klima relay, drier, climate control unit in dash -new vacuum bellow replaced in dash (yes, all of the dash vents work correctly now:)) -new thermostat/ coolant/ expansion tank -new set of Michelin tires -new windshield -front end rebuild- new ball joints, upper control arms, steering damper, tie rods -turbo return o-ring/gasket -new BOSCH headlight bezels/ BOSCH H4 headlights -new tailgate struts As anyone could imagine this car cranks, runs and drives great. The engine doesnt knock, smoke, rattle or use oil. The automatic transmission shifts like it should with no problems. With all that has been recently serviced or replaced, one would be hard pressed to find a tighter and better driving W123. You can see in the pics that the interior is clean and the car is over all an unmolested example. This We have also recently installed a new Kenwwod cd player and speakers for more "modern" sound. This car comes with all of its original documents including the window sticker. On with a few pics- As you can see in the pics, the car really does look great for a 27 year old car. The body of the car is really straight and all of the panels line up nicely. Most of the paint on the car is original and shines well, but, it has had some touch up in the distant past. Just like any other 27 year old car, this one isnt perfect either. This is an older car that has definitely been taken care of, but, it has been driven also- which means it has general wear from use. In the state of Georgia a title is NOT required on a vehicle of this vintage, therefore I do not have one. With my registration and a bill of sale from the DMV, this car can be legally registered and titled in any state. If you have any questions, please check with your local DMV or DMV dot org.
