It was factory equipped with Air Grabber, Track Pack, clock/tachometer, a 440/4-barrel and was originally Yellow Gold. It is now a spectacular Vitamin C Orange with Magnum 500 wheels that are extra wide at the rear. (P295/50s!) It also has an E87 spec 440/6-barrel and we probably don't have to tell you; this is one quick Plymouth. Don't believe me? Check out the video . . . The paint is spectacular, the body is smooth and the interior is beautiful. Everything works as it should including all lights, locks and exterior hardware. The main thing a buyer should know is how well sorted out this incredible Plymouth is. It has power steering (new rebuilt pump) and goes down the road straight and easy. The brakes are strong/don't pull and the suspension is solid and reliable . . . . . . it has a vice-free 4-speed that does exactly what you want it to do and the beefy Dana 60/9.75 inch rear axle is bomb-proof and quiet. The clean/dry 440 lights off immediately and its idle removes any doubt about the intended purpose of this type of car. Like I said, this is a well sorted machine and the monster under hood does what it's told but, be careful what you tell it to do. During normal driving, the center carburetor serves up an ocean of torque and unlike many multi-carb engines, this bad boy is not at all temperamental. It does however, have a temper . . . . . . this is old-school horsepower ala big block Plymouth and if you're new to this kind of performance, the experience can be frightening. Flip the switch to open the Air Grabber, grab the manly Hurst pistol-grip shifter and click it smoothly into first gear. The racing clutch is brand new and is predictably progressive. This is one of those cars however, where the throttle must be respected - you don't casually floor this bad boy . . . . . . it doesn't take long to get comfortable and that is what makes this particular GTX better than any you're likely to find. There is no mechanical drama or annoyances; everything is buttoned up and tight. This is a rare classic that you can drive . . . and drive hard without fear of things breaking. After a mile or two your confidence builds and you're ready to see what 6-barrels and 390 rated horsepower feels like. If you don't want to turn those fat Radial T/As into smoke, try it from a 20 MPH roll . . . it'll break loose anyway and if you can keep it straight, grab second with a strong chirp and the front-end rises again while three Holleys wail, the big 440 screams and things start feeling very NASCAResque. Yes, it's very easy to get into trouble and extremely difficult to avoid dipping into all that low-end torque . . . The P295/50 rear rubber fills things up nicely back here and this shot gives us a good look at a great bumper and some very pretty exterior trim. Very serious from this angle and it ain't just looks; this is a 440/6-Pack GTX with a 4-speed and this spectacular Plymouth is much more than simply a driver quality classic; it is a quality driving, quality functioning muscle car icon. By 1970, Plymouth's GTX had a fearsome reputation. That's because all GTXs are volcanic. The only engine choices for 1970 were way-too-fast (440/4-barrel) way-faster-than-that (440/6-Pack) and twice-as-fast-as-all-that. (Hemi) Because just 678 GTXs with this engine were produced in 1970, most people won't even see a real 6-Pack GTX, let alone afford one. The chance to actually drive a 440/6-Pack GTX with the oh-so-desired 4-speed transmission is as rare as the car itself. The vast majority of GTX production left the factory with a 440/4-barrel and the standard TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This particular GTX also has the optional Air Grabber cold air intake and is one of the very few to have a 4-speed. Six Pack production was just 678 so, if you do happen to find a documented example, it will probably empty your retirement fund and your wife's. Which brings us to the Vitamin C Orange gem you see here and let me tell you; if you think a 440 GTX is fast (and it is) wait until you feel the outer two Holleys kick in when you stand on this bad boy. It has torque everywhere and your self-preservation instinct will kick in long before this beast runs out of steam. Air Grabber With the flip of a switch, your snarling 6-barrel 440 will be breathing lots of fresh air and burning lots of expensive rubber. Beautiful interior is in superb condition. Extras include a clock/tachometer, power steering, tinted glass and this car has a modern Pioneer SuperTuner III stereo. Upholstery looks great, the carpet is outstanding and there's seatbelts for everybody. The Hurst Pistol Grip shifter is an icon all by itself. Not many GTXs had one of these and you can take great comfort knowing the presence of a factory installed 4-speed makes your GTX much stronger in the market. The GTX came with full instrumentation including a 150 MPH speedometer, tachometer/clock (second hand works, tach does not) fuel, temperature, oil pressure and alternator. Super Commando 440 V8 Six Barrel 390 horsepower @ 4,700/490 ft-lb torque @ 3,200 RPM (advertised figures for a stock 6-barrel 440) Clean, dry and beautiful in here. The front carb is new and the other two are newly rebuilt. The battery is new, the power steering pump is rebuilt and this easy starting 440 runs as good as it looks. Beautiful undercarriage is clean and dry, with no surprises. An easy way to spot a real GTX is the rear leaf springs. The 440 and 426 cars came with 7 leaf on the right and 6 on the left. At Viva Las Vegas Autos, Inc, we agree with the vast majority of our happy customers that correctly understand terms like "spectacular" "stunning" and/or "superb" are subjective. These words should only be used when a car actually is superb, relative to other GTXs in this condition. Serious buyers understand these terms and we can say without hesitation, that you will be "perfectly" pleased and more than just a little proud to own this unbelievable Plymouth. A note for "serious" buyers that feel knowing our reserve price will give them an advantage. If you actually want to own this vehicle, call and make an offer to buy it. It’s that simple. We will not respond to your e-mail asking for our reserve or "bottom line." We will simply delete it. There is no "bottom line" in an auction. There is only your budget and the most you will spend to buy the vehicle. We have no way to know what that number is until you give it to us in the form of an intelligent offer. With Viva Las Vegas Autos, this is especially easy because we give you more critical buyer information than you could ever hope for. Your offer or bid is the only number that can possibly buy or win this vehicle. Put the pressure on us to say... "YES! We'll sell it for your offer." Better than half of our vehicles are sold prior to the end of the auction with offers from serious buyers. 90% of these were met without hesitation because they correctly fell into line with current market values, congruent with the superior condition of this vehicle. If you disagree with industry experts and/or actual sales results from around the globe, then simply give us your number. Remember however, the above established figures are real and, therefore, so should you offer be. Do your own research, make an honest bid and you just might take this vehicle home. WARNING TO BID RETRACTORS (aka FISHERMEN) The integrity of eBay depends on the good faith intent of both buyer and seller. You compromise your integrity when you fish for the reserve with bids you do not intent to honor. BIDDER'S THAT RETRACT THEIR BIDS WILL BE REMOVED AND BLOCKED PERMANENTLY FROM THIS AUCTION AND ALL OF OUR FUTURE AUCTIONS. Don't Make eBay your playground. eBay's lack of real consequences, unfortunately allows low caliber individuals to assume eBay Auctions are a game. Let's make this a fair auction for all bidders.
