This car has the following desirable packages and options: - M Sport Package, including OEM 18” M Parallel wheels in staggered sizes - Navigation - Sport Package - Power front seats with driver’s side memory - Cold Weather Package - Moonroof - Xenon headlights - Split fold-down rear seats - Rain sensor wipers - Automatic headlights - Universal garage door opener - VIN is WBADN634X3GS57101 - Original MSRP was $60,470!!! *** Over 35 photos can be viewed at this link: http://photobucket.com/2003BMW540iGS57101 *** A 4.5mb PDF file containing the AutoCheck report (5 pages); Global BMW inspection report (5 pages); rear tires receipt (1 page); and BMW Vehicle Data report (2 pages) can be emailed upon request. Background: I have wanted a 540i M Sport for a long time and recently bought this example to replace my high-mileage 2004 BMW 330i. However, my 330i just developed some extensive and costly transmission problems that I need to correct. And after I finish investing significant dollars in the 330i, I will not be able to net the proceeds I need selling the 330i, which means I cannot keep the 540i. The Good: - Extremely low mileage example of one of the best looking and best performing BMW cars ever produced, with the right combination of mechanical, technological and aesthetic options and features. This car is incredibly fast AND comfortable to drive. - Clean AutoCheck report - no accidents, no title issues, no odometer issues, AutoCheck score of 92 compared to 75-86 for similar vehicles. - I have not yet titled or registered this car in my name and state, therefore you will be the 4th owner. Title is in hand and will be delivered with the car. - Paint is in excellent condition as shown in the photos, and the car was extensively detailed one week ago. - Two brand new BF Goodrich G-Force KDW tires added to the rear of the car (size 265/3518) at a cost of $567. Front tires have decent tread left. - No history of accidents, although the hood was replaced by the prior owner due to hail damage. - Thorough pre-purchase inspection performed at Global BMW in Atlanta, and report is available for viewing. Only noted issues were (1) heated seats failure, discussed below, (2) two right side wheels noted as bent, and I have repaired the front wheel while the rear wheel was balanced at Kaufmann Tire in Atlanta, (3) exhaust has some rust but no leaks, and (4) valve cover gasket is leaking, nothing serious though I recommend having this replaced at the next scheduled service at 90,000 miles. - Since GA doesn’t require a front license plate, I planned to remove the front plate bracket and have bought painted bumper plugs to fill in the holes. I will provide the bumper plugs with the car. - Two keys and owner’s manual included. The Not-So-Good: - Both heated front seats are not currently working. Problem has been diagnosed as a short in the wires under the leather, which is a common failure in E39 BMWs. The repair involves dismantling the seats and soldering the split heater wires. - The front tires will need to be replaced in the near future. Because of the extreme camber set-up for the 540i Sport, the tires tend to wear quicker on the inside edge. The result is that as the tires near the end of their useful life, they tend to vibrate when driven cold. However, this goes away once the tires warm up. This condition was more prevalent in the rear tires, which is why I went ahead and replaced them. The fronts aren’t as bad so I have not replaced them. - The driver’s seat side and lower bolsters show some wear, which is very common with BMW sport seats. Solution would be to buy some leather dye (Leatherique.com has dye to match OEM BMW interior colors for $55.00). - There is a crack in the rear bumper apron, on the passenger side which can be seen in the photos. - There is tiny ding in the fuel cap door which can be seen in the photos. - The passenger side cup holder is broken but I have a replacement to include with the car. The cup holder design in the BMW E39 is a known weak point! - Wheels are not in pristine condition but I think are perfectly presentable and acceptable for 8-½ year old car. - The front tow hook cover was missing so I bought a replacement but have not yet had time to get it painted and installed. I will provide the unpainted cover with the car. - Other than the pre-purchase inspection, no other service records are available. That is why I had the extensive PPI done by a reputable local BMW dealer when I bought the car. Kelley Blue Book (KBB) Private Party value for this car ranges from $15,300 to $16,000 for “good” to “excellent” condition. I have started the No Reserve bidding on this car at $12,000, with a Buy-It-Now price of $14,250.
