Vehicle Detail
This is a 1970 Ford F-100 XLT Pick Up. It's been in my family since the mid 1970's. My dad purchased it then and I purchased from him in the mid 1980's and have owned it since then. The truck has 165,335 original miles on it. I rebuilt the engine and transmission when I purchased it with about 90,000 miles on it. The engine was bored .030 over and a new crankshaft assembly was installed to change the original 360 to 390 cubic inches. The C-6 trans was rebuilt by a local transmission shop. I have had no problems with either one since that time. About 10 years ago the original Ford cast iron 2-bl intake manifold cracked. So I replaced it with an Offenhauser Dual Port 360 Aluminum model, and because I'm in the fuel system business, I installed a late model Q-jet carb. It works great. The truck features a full sized bed and a factory heavy duty towing package with overload springs, power assisted 3 inch front drum brakes, big radiator, and the rear step bumper. I have painted the exterior of the truck once in the early 90's. The paint is the original color. The interior and under hood paint is original. There is a photo that shows the only rust spot I can find. It's on the interior of the bed along the right lower rail. There is a small amount of bubbling above the main trim on the outside of the bed. The truck originally had the wood grain trim package, but it was looking dull so I had the body shop buff it out when it was painted. There are a few door dings on the trim, but nothing major. There are a few trailer tounge dings on the tail gate trim. I had the seat redone when I got the truck. Everything else is original. There is two short tears on the drivers side. There is two small cracks on the dash where the speaker grill is. I've had the dash cover on it for years. The original radio was replaced recently with a Pioneer unit with a CD player. Everything works except the lighter is missing and the factory oil pressure gauge works about half the time. I'm working on that now. I put a mechanicl gauge on it and the engine has 45 lbs. of pressure. Must be a connection problem. The tires are 60-70% and it has a crank down spare. My dad installed the auxillary fuel tank in the bed. It holds about 16 gallons. Well, that's about the whole story. I've represented the truck as fairly as I can. I just moved and am going to need a 4x4, so that's the reason for selling it. The truck is 42 years old, so it's not perfect. It's been well cared for and will haul a yard of gravel or a cord of wood with no problem, and you'll get lots of compliments on it. I'm going to include a new Addco rear sway bar and a set of Rancho rear air shocks that I was going to use with a small camper, but never did. I also have the original 2-bl carb and an aluminum canopy that's in fair condition if you would like to have it. From the research I've done, I think I have a reasonable starting price. I do reserve the right to sell the truck locally. Feel free to contact me with any questions. You can reach me during business hours at 541-826-4521.
