Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a number matching, original 1968 Mustang GT Fastback J code (4bbI 302) with a factory 4-speed transmission. It was built at the San Jose plant and spent all of its life on the West coast. About four years ago, it was bought by a restoration company in Nevada. They stripped the paint all the way to the bare metal (it was originally Seafoam Green) so that they could then paint it the much more popular Highland Green. As you can see in the pictures, the color isn't exactly the same as McQueen's 390 so I would more accurately call it a Light Highland Green. After they had the car taken apart , they soon discovered that no metal work was needed - even the battery apron is original. The interior did undergo a full restoration but retained its original Ivy Gold Deluxe interior. Roughly two and a half years ago, I bought the vehicle from a guy in Memphis and it has been here in Pittsburgh ever since. The only additions I have made to the car is a Classic Auto Air "perfect fit" system. This is a modern AC system but uses the original switches to maintain the original look. It blows very cold, better than most modern vehicles. The car has accrued little mileage since restoration, but I have made it a priority to ensure it is driven on at least a biweekly basis. It has new wheels/tires but I have the originals. It has spent most of its time here covered in a climate garage with dehumidifiers running constantly. The car is extremely clean (I am very picky) and the body is as straight as they come. In fact, it was stated by a friend and mustang expert that it was as straight as any '68 GT he had seen. Inside and out, this car is spotless. As far as driving it goes: the motor is strong, clutch (new) engagement is consistent and the transmission is solid. One interesting thing worth mentioning is that the passanger side visor has been autographed by Carroll Shelby. I have a plethora of pictures (outside, inside, during restoration, etc.) and would be happy to send them upon request. Obviously, I have all paperwork and documentation (MARTI report) for the vehicle and what was done to it. If you have any questions, please ask! I encourage for you or someone to come and look at this car for yourself, it's a beautiful car! Thank you for looking and have a great day!
