2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4x4 I purchased this Jeep site unseen a couple of months ago for my 16 year old driver. The Jeep had a 5" lift kit in it and because I did not think that was a good idea for a 16 year old driver I removed the kit and installed stock suspension back in the Jeep (I no longer have the removed lift kit!). At the time that I did this I did not know what I really had. This Jeep was totally set up for the serious 4-wheeler! I opened up the Dana 35's and found someone had installed 488 gears and Detroit Lockers (I believe that is what you call them based on pictures and research on the internet! I was going to change out the axles but got to thinking this unit really needs to go to someone who loves to go 4-wheelin. So.........I will do my best to discribe what i have and will include lots of pictures! Thanks for looking. The Jeep came from Florida and has no rust either in the body or underneath! The body and paint are very nice with only a few small dents and scratches (see pics). The interior is nice also with tan buckets with no holes. The carpet is faded but nothing worse than other 2000 Jeeps. The top is in good condition no holes or tears and all zippers are in good working condition. Jeep has 1/2 doors with soft door tops and again are in good condtion. Jeep currently has Goodyear Wrangler RTS 15's with aftermarket wheels on it. (need to be larger with 488 gears). The area bumper is 1/4" steel with a hitch and clevas hook locations. There are tubular steel steps/skidplates. There is 1/4" diamond plate under the doors between the wheels. Windshield is nice with no cracks! Wrangler has a 4.0 fuel injected, straight 6 with a 5 speed transmision. Again the Jeep has Dana 35's with 488 gears and (detroit) lockers and replacement axles (see pics). There is a 2.5" welded exhaust system and muffler that allows great airflow and has a nice rumble. The air filter is a K&N. I installed a new battery in the past 30 days. I also replaced the steering gearbox because it was leaking. Brakes seem to be good all around. Emergency brake needs to be adjusted. I have had this unit in 4 wheel drive and I think it would go anywhere with the 488 gears! The motor is strong and seems to have plenty of power! So.....What does it need? Well, I am not an expert but here is what I think it needs: I think it needs bigger wheels and tires (these are too small with the 488 gears!). It probably needs to have another lift kit put in it. The 4 wheel drive linkage needs to be adjusted. And finally an owner who loves to go 4-wheelin! It is a good looking Jeep and will be a ton of fun. Again I have tried to discribe this Jeep the best I can please feel free and ask questions and I will do my best to answer! Thanks
