Up for your consideration one 1991 Mazda MX-5 that has had a small block Ford placed gently under the hood! Yep it has had a V8 upgrade making this fun car just a little more exciting! I traded for this car recently and thought it might be a weekend fun car but I bought a retirement home over the Christmas holiday and want to now focus on upgrades to the new home. Here is a little information about the Miata Motor: Appears to be a 1987 or newer Mustang 5.0 motor that someone put a small block 2bbl Ford intake on instead of wiring up the fuel injection system. The car still has an electric fuel pump and runs off the stock gas tank system. The headers are Factory Ford issue Fox Body they flow into side pipes that are like that of the early AC Cobras. ( Straight piped no muffllers or cats on the car) The car only has one belt for the alternator and uses an electric fan which brings the temp down very quick when turned on. This car uses what appears to be a c-4 automatic it has no overdrive just three speeds. Bringing up the rear the previous owner told me that there is a 411 posi unit..? I can tell you it is posi for sure it will grip the road when called upon! I can not verify the ratio. There is an aftermarket oil pressure and temp guage installed as well as a Clarion stereo. There is an extra 2bbl carb in the trunk as well as two new cross drilled rotors for the car and some name brand brake pads not needed just extra parts for the car the previous owner threw in to the deal. New Battery last March $95.00 and has a new accelerator cable from the Mazda Dealer. Interior: The AC componets are still in the car not hooked up no compressor under the hood. The drivers seat has wear on the bolster from getting in and out of the car other than that EXCELLENT condition. The car comes with a brand new set of bucket seat covers still in the box if you wanted to change them. The car has a BRAND NEW TOP just installed before I traded. The convertible top boot is in excellent shape and there is a driving bra for the front of the car. Body: The body is RUST FREE spent a lot of time in Arizona. Please note the car has mostly original paint and shows some clear coat peeling on the hood mostly like an orange peel look not severe just thought you should know. The passenger side rear quarter has a small ding on the wheel lip tried to show in pictures. There are some dings and pings from years of parking lots it is a 1991 after all. The carbon fiber scoop is to make room for the carb I was going to replace the hood with an after market or go back to fuel injection but it works for now. What does it need? The drivers door does not have a glass it has a piece of plexiglas cut for it the glass is $55.00 on Ebay maybe cheaper at a slavavge yard it was not in it when I got it but the plexiglas was. The speedometer does not work it is hooked into the transmission I do not know if it is needing a new gear or ??? who knows it does go FAST just not sure how fast LOL. Potential: What I see in this car is Potential and lots of FUN for the weekend track driver to maybe the weekend dragstrip driver? This car only has a 2bbl pushing about 230 horsepower. Just add a cam kit and a 4bbl carb to pick up a few more horse power. Maybe pull the engine since it is set up for a small block Ford drop you a stroker in it just for kicks! Ultimate Sleeper Potential I am sure people will ask what you got in that Miata???? The insurance company never has to know ....HEHEHEHEHE This car can be driven I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere can be shipped if you arrange it great winter project to go over detail and show and shine next summer.
