Vehicle Detail
This1973 mercedes diesel runs and drives great, lots of new parts. My wife and I drove this car on a 2000 mile road trip across country just a couple of months ago and believe we have worked out most of the bugs that old cars develop after sitting for a few years. Everything on the car works including the original radio. The car drives nice- brakes, shifts and accelerates just the way it should. Four wheel disc brakes with brand new calipers and pads on the rear. Brand new tires all the way around with a warranty from Big O Tires mounted and balanced. New hoses, brand new starter, brand new battery and radiator flush. This car is a diesel so it will run forever and gets around 30 to 34 miles per gallon! The body is in good shape for how old it is, no major hits or dings, but there is rust around the headlight buckets and in the trunk. The pass. side doors paint is different but a close match. There is also a place for an extra battery in the truck. The car has a block heater installed that works great for instant cold morning starts ( notice: this is an old diesel so if you are not familiar with the hard starts and black smoke when going up hills this may not be the car for you) All glass in the car is good, even the windshield is perfect. The interior is in pretty good shape, cracks in dash pad and the front seats seem to be from a different Mercedes because the color is different from the back seats. All knobs and controls are there and even an after market cruise control that works great for long trips. This would be a great car for a restoration project, or drive it as it is (we use it as a daily driver!) Manual transmissions are rare in these mercedes and seem to get better mileage than the autos, and prob. last longer. The glow plugs work good as do all the lights and turn signals. This car has been very good to us and shouldn't have any problems for its new owner, but it is sold as is where is. Colorado does not require an emissons test on cars older than 1975 so I cannot speak as to the quality of the emissions but I would have to guess that it wouldn't have any problems. All four original hubcaps are present. The odometer does not show the sixth digit so the mileage could be 73k, 173k, or whatever- it is impossible to know. No reserve! Happy bidding!
