Vehicle Detail

This is a 1981 Honda ATC250R. For those of you who don't know this was the first year, for the first ever, high performance atv. Has an air cooled 250cc two stroke engine, with 5 speed manual trans. I bought this bike from a freind who needed money. Had it running last week, until it died and has not restarted since. When it did run it ran like a raped ape. I found that it had a bad head gasket, replaced with new, has 140psi on first kick, and 180psi on the third kick. Is getting fuel, and spark, however, it will not start. Does not start on starting fluid either. Like I said it does have spark using an inline spark tester, but it could be weak. I do not (A) have the specs to test the stator resistance, (B) do not have the desire to keep it. I have done the following: cleaned the carb, replaced the air filter, spark plug, fuel line, new clutch cable, changed the clutch/trans oil, and fresh fuel mix. It has practically new tires, chain and sprockets have some life left in them, bars are straight, has and extended rear axle (cannot find a name on it, so don't ask), full DG exhaust (pipe and silencer), and while I had the head off I found it had a 2mm over bore WISECO piston making it 262cc. Rear brakes work, suspension feels ok, clutch and trans feel good, and had no abnormal noises or leaks when running. Comes with new Boyseen reeds, new foot brake cable, and an extra plug. It does need a front brake master cylinder, kill switch, parking brake cable, seat foam and cover (still availible from DennisKirk), and one fork boot is torn. The body is in decent shape. Someone painted the rear fender and the paint is coming of, front has the usual damage (but still very usable). The tank is in over all very good condition, doesn't leak and has only very slight rust inside (easy fix with the KREEM kit). Chasis did have 2 cracks in it that I welded them together again, you can see the 1 just in front of the stator cover. The other is about 6 inches below 1st. They weren't that bad and metal was in great shape. This bike has a ton of potential, and is still very buildable, go to airfoolers.com to see what many people have done with these 1st gens. Local pick up only! If you want to ship it all arrangements are your responsibility, I will help load onto a truck if need be. No warrenty expressed or implied. I only except Paypal or cash in hand. Deposit of $200.00 is due within 2 days of auction close and full payment in 7 days.
