Vehicle Detail

1972 Jeep Commando. I love this Jeep. Everyone compliments me on it when I drive it around Seattle. Someone even left a love note on it this last summer. Once it is nice enough to take the top off there is no better ride in the world. This is my second commando, both in this same year/color and motor. It is my daily driver, or was till we got a car my fiance would drive, and has lots of new stuff. I just put about 1200 dollars into it and got it some new shocks, new battery, new radiator. On top of that it has also new plugs, alternator, rebuilt carburator this summer, new tires less than 2500 miles ago, I sewed it a rag top(not as pretty as I had hoped) and generally it keeps running for me pretty well. It is a forty year old Jeep and the two break downs this last year were the alternator and one where I ran something over on the freeway and knocked a transmission cooling line off the radiator. There are no ominous knockings, no metal flake in the oil, no blue smoke in the exhaust, no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil. It has new wipers, extra oil and transmission fluid in the back and I forsee next year it will need a brake job( I bought the parts for this and will include them in the auction) and if you have a nice driveway it could use a new dipstick sleeve, it leaked about 3/4 cup in my parking spot since march when I started parking there. It has some rust. If it did not I would be asking about 5000 more for it. the floorboards though still strong, are holey and the back tailgate has some bad spots around the seams. The runners under the doors have just a little, and the damn passenger door got hit while I was parked in Montana, no note, no confessions, nothing fixed, I think the pictures will show the dent clearly, my friend kyle tried to push the dent out with the tire iron, you can see how well that worked, it will need some bondo, also I may have the number of someone in MT with a new door for it when you get around to making this Jeep nice. I never drove it hard, Only had it in 4WD one time to pull a boat up a steep launch ramp. I paid 1700 for the thing and have made many, many improvements, there is a secret cd player in the glove, the two speakers are just screwed to some oak barrel staves and not in boxes so the only album that sounds good in it is the Rolling Stones Let it Bleed, which I will also include in this auction. I love this Jeep and would not be selling it if my fiance thought it was a safe car for a car seat. I would even keep it just for me but parking on Capitol Hill costs 140 dollars a month. If you buy this jeep you will have the greatest summer of your life and will always have something to tinker with. Someday in a couple of years when I have an income and a driveway I will buy another one, This car has brought me more happiness than any of the other dozen I have owned and I am sure whoever gets it will love it too.
