Here is a Post War survivor.1949 4 door Packard in very solid condition. I started last spring working on this tank and now buying a house and I must sell. The engine is the original straight 8 (288 CI ) with new water pump,thermostat,spark plugs,carburetor, and freeze plugs.I didn't change the plug wires or the points so it may be a good idea to change them also. Runs great and starts up every time.Transmission is the original 3 speed on the column and it shifts great. Replaced all the brake hardware,rebuilt the wheel cylinders, rebuilt the master cylinder ( don't think I did it correctly peddle still goes to the floor ). Relined brake shoes all the way around,new brake hoses.Tires are in decent shape but have low spots from sitting.Solid exhaust system. Floors were prepared by previous owner as well as the trunk area(used flat sheet metal).Seats are out of a 1971 Cadillac. Door panels recovered.Needs a headliner. very solid body with one rust spot and it is in the photos.Most of the lights are working except for the front parking lights and one turn signal. No major body work is needed for this project and that will save time and money.If you want something from the ordinary ,here it is! Let this Packard become your project for 2012 ! Sold with a Georgia bill of sale and vehicle is for sale locally so i reserve the right to end this auction early if it gets sold. Also, Its still a 6 volt car that has not been cut or chopped on. Very original except for the seats and door panels.Built like a TANK ! May consider a little trade for an old Ford or Mercury. Or just make an offer .On Jan-03-12 at 04:11:17 PST, seller added the following information: The phots that gives the car a shiny finish were taken after it rained. The car is sprayed in a flat primer to cover the surface rust. It will still need proper sanding to prepare for paint.Super straight and solid body. The only rust is whats pictured and only have 2-3 very minor dings.On Jan-04-12 at 19:05:42 PST, seller added the following information: I don't think you will find a unrestored 49 Packard in this condition. Most that you find unrestored will have a great deal of rust in the finders,rockers,and quarter panels. That car has a small area of rust below the rear drivers side door that will be very easy to fix.Sand, prime ,and paint saving time and money from having to do extensive body repairs and looking for donor cars that have better body parts. If I wasn't buying a new house it would not be for sale !!!! I have had a number of old cars and this is the best conditioned car that I have ran across for its age.So who ever wins this car is getting way more than their monies worth.This car should sell for 3k easy !!
