Vehicle Detail

Hello, Up for auction is my beautiful 1979 Lincoln Town Car with 17,944 actual miles. This car is truly a time capsule and in outstanding condition. I am a locator and collector of 70’s era Fords, Lincolns, and Mercury’s, and I will tell you that this is one of the most original, rust free, and unmolested Lincolns I have ever had the privilege of owning. The car has had three owners (including myself), and was purchased new by a gentleman that lived between Chicago and Milwaukee who used it at his summer home in Wisconsin. He owned it until 1996 and had only put 16,900 miles on it, when he told a good friend of his that he was going to trade it in. Well his friend always thought the car was beautiful so he worked out a deal and bought it before it was traded. He put the car in his garage and drove it sparingly on special occasions and nice days, only adding 915 miles to the odometer in 15 years. I purchased the Lincoln this year and have greatly enjoyed it, however I am not able to keep every car I find for myself (70’s cars are BIG and take up A LOT of room J) and since I already have another show quality Town Car, this is one that I want to pass on to a new home and collector to enjoy. Anyways, more about the car. The Lincoln has never seen a day of winter driving and is absolutely rust free. In the photos I included pictures of both a rocker panel and a bottom door pinch weld, and they are in like new condition. It is painted in its beautiful original 2 tone Burgundy and Champagne paint combination and shines brightly and shows well. It also has its original Burgundy vinyl top that is in excellent condition. Inside it is equipped with the original Burgundy Leather pillow top seats and interior that are also in outstanding condition. All the trim and moldings are in excellent condition and have no damage or dings anywhere. It is fully loaded with all the power equipment you would expect from a luxury car of the period. When I say the car is original, I mean original. It is even still equipped with the original Michelin tires it rolled off the showroom with, including the matching spare which has never touched the ground yet!! It actually rides and drives excellent on them, and I want to defer the decision to replace or not to the next owner as I cannot predict their preferences on originality. Also, no “monkey with a spray paint can” engine compartment here, the engine compartment is in absolute 100% original unmolested condition and I have left it so. The trunk is complete with all carpet curtains and shows no wear or stains at all. The car was rust proofed and undercoated when new and is absolutely rust free 100%. The undercarriage and floor pans are rock solid and in perfect condition. The Lincoln is equipped with the original 400 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission, and runs, drives, and shifts as it should. It rides fantastic with no rattles, squeaks, etc. at all. The brakes are silky smooth and the steering is tight and solid, as it should be. There are also no leaks of any kind under the car. NONE! The car has just recently been serviced (10 miles ago) and the only concern found was some minor seepage from the fuel pump, so a new one has been installed along with a new fuel filter. There are hundreds of points I could cover in great detail, however I can’t possibly cover every question buyers may have, and I have always agreed with the saying “a picture is worth 1000 words” so I have included a lot of them. Please look them over carefully and feel free to ask any and all questions you may have before bidding. I will be happy to answer them. This car is in outstanding condition for its age; however it is still a used 32 year old unrestored car. It does have a few stone chips as it was actually driven and original, also a scratch I know of on top of the RF fender near the windshield. This Lincoln will be a fine addition to any collection and can still be driven and enjoyed. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I am willing to work with you or your shipper on scheduling a pick-up and being available. A deposit of $500 is due within 24hrs of listing end, and full payment in certified funds within 3 days from end of listing. I have clear title in hand ready for transfer. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding! On Dec-26-11 at 15:01:49 PST, seller added the following information: Since I have had several people ask, I wanted to add that: YES, this is the DOCUMENTED actual mileage for the car. I have the documentation in hand to give to the winning bidder. Thanks again for looking!
