Up for bid is a very clean,straight,and rust free 1973 Volkswagen riviera camper van.It was bought brand new in Tucson,and has lived its whole life there.It only saw 8 years on the road.In 1981,the engine burned a valve in one of the cylinders,and was parked and never driven again.It sat under a portable car shelter until 3 months ago.I purchased it from the second owner,who only got one years worth of driving out of it,when the engine burned the valve.It only has 76,132 original miles on it.The dry desert weather took its tole on the paint,and some of the interior parts,and 2 of the window seals.I started on this van with the body.It was almost lazer straight,other than a couple of dings,and one small dent.Then the interior,and then the running gear.Here is a list of everything that I have done to it. New Paint Rebuilt engine (from top to bottom) New clutch,pressure plate,throw out bearing,and fly wheel New upholstery New carpet New door panels New Curtains New poptop seal New lenses New stereo(not hooked up) This van came equipped with a sink,2 burner stove,and refrigerator,all which look and work like brand new.The brakes are 80%,and the tires I had put on it are at 90%.The engine will come with 200 break in miles on it,and I would think this van is good for another 40 years with proper maintainance.Also the canvas top is in very good shape,other than the front windows zipper was not operable,so it was sealed shut.The two side windows are fine,with only a couple of small holes in the bug netting.Thank you,and please feel free to ask any questions you would like.
