The “993” air-cooled series Porsche is very highly thought of and the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 coupe is at the top of the list for that body style. Although the “993” had been built since 1993, 1996 models were the first to have their horsepower upped to 285 from the 3.6 litre, 6-cylinder engine. This power, along with the 6-speed transmission, yielded a top speed of 168 and a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. Air-cooled Porsche production ended in early 1998 and the “993” was then replaced with the larger, heavier “996” series water-cooled cars. This one owner car was sold new on October 5, 1996 to its only owner, a local enthusiast. It is finished in Polar Silver with black leather and is accompanied by its original manuals, tools and often-missing air compressor. It also has the original Porsche stereo with a Cd player. It was subject to a $4,819.90 engine sealing and major servicing in 2011 and has just had four new Continental “Conti-Sport Contact 3” high-speed tires installed and rear shocks. Overall this is a nice example of a 993C4. However, it does need some cosmetic attention. This car drives smooth, shifts beautifully, is rattle free. Its perfectly stable on the highway. Having just completed a 1300 mile drive in two days, its proven to be reliable and a great cruiser. We have documentation of extensive work that was completed in the past year. We are happy to email copies if it upon request from serious buyers. There is some mechanical work that will be needed as well as some cosmetics. It has nice leather, door panels, headliner and dash. There is some deterioration of the instrument binnacle and a tear in the rear shelf. It also has some lifting of the clearcoat on one fender.
