Vehicle Detail
1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal Coupe in excellent condition. Solid original body with no rust or accidents, perfect original body gaps, 102K original miles. Factory floors, beautiful paint and interior (see before and after pictures of the original floors). Original numbers matching engine freshly rebuilt by Laurance Dickman, an Alfa specialist. The complicated and expensive engine work has just been completed, with less than 500 miles on block (I will attach a detailed explanation of the rebuild below). Excellent driver condition Montreal, a worthy addition to any Alfa collection. Thanks for looking! Please email any questions, and see a slideshow of 247 detailed and downloadable pictures below: Here are some general specifications: The first production car, Tipo 10564, was shown at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show and was quite different from the original, using a 2593 cc 90° dry-sump lubricated V8 engine with SPICA (Società Pompe Iniezione Cassani & Affini) fuel injection that produced around 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp), coupled to a five-speed ZF gearbox and a limited-slip differential. This engine was derived from the 2-litre V8 used in the 33 Stradale and in the Tipo 33 sports prototype racer, its was detuned racing engine with redline at 7000 rpm, unheard of for a V8 at that time. The chassis and running gear of the production Montreal were taken from the Giulia GTV coupé and comprised double wishbone suspension with coil springs and dampers at the front and a live axle with limited slip differential at the rear. Knowing the complexity of these engines, I sent the car to Lawrence Dickman, an Alfa Specialist who rebuilds Montreal engines. Almost everything had been installed new, but we wanted to be sure of the workmanship. Larry pulled engine and checked everything, replacing what needed to be replaced, and essentially redoing all the assembly work to be positive it was sound. I have listed his notes below, and he documented the process with the photos in the album: Installed rebuilt Injection pump, and Thermo actuator New main and rod bearings on excellent Std. crank New piston and liner set, then new Hastings rings installed during this rebuild Previous valve job, but taken apart, inspected, new exhaust guides with seals installed as upgrade, previous new valves and seats reground. One cam had two lobes welded and refinished, all other cams in excellent condition. New water pump seals and bearings. New clutch, pressure plate disc and T/O bearing New timing chains, gasket set, dry sump hoses all redone, new coolant hoses and heater hoses. Good used Magnesium sump installed to replace previously cracked leaking one.
