Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible. Restoration completed about 1 year ago and has always been garage kept, never driven in the rain and has less than 400 miles since completed. Pontiac 389 (not numbers matching) freshly rebuilt (like i said less than 400 miles on complete restore) and runs like a top. Did not go with any special cams, lifters, etc I wanted the engine to be dependable and hassle free which it is. I was told by my engine rebuilder that the pistons were forged aluminum and the bottom end was like new. Heads obvioulsy have been competely rebuilt. All new componets as to be expected (water pump, oil pump, fuel pump intake manifold (Eldebrock performer series), Edelbrock Carb, valve covers, distributor, alternator (disappointed in the chrome already fading), etc. Ceramic coated headers and pypes exhaust system. It is 2-1/2" sounds nice and not over powering (you can have a conversation in the car). New radiator and shroud, new AC components including compressor, dryer, evaporator and lines. Muncie 4-speed transmission which also has been gone through and rebuilt (bearings, seals and shift fork. Rear end has also been completely gone through. Drive train is very solid and the only issue known is when I backed it out of the gargae today there is small leak coming from the transmission (I will investigate, had not had any leaks). New fuel tank, fuel sending and lines from front to rear. All new suspension/bushings and handles very nice (flaw: driver side ball joint is fine however notice the rubber boot has a slit, recommend replacing). Power steering (all new), New power front disc brakes (all new), rear drums (new pads/springs), new brake lines from front to rear no issues with brakes. Exterior - body work took the longest which I had done by a shop, Both rear qtr panels were replaced. Front fenders, wheel wells, hood and doors were ok and only required minor repairs. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed (flaw: rear bumper has a small chrome chip). Body was removed and frame blasted and coated before any suspension work took place. All new weather stripping around (flaw:left rear qtr window seal keeps popping out at the bottom-probably an easy fix). Overall I would rate the paint job an 8 out of 10. Most people dont see the flaws I see, its just when it takes so long to do the job you expect it to be a 9-10. There are a few cracks and stars, once again if you look hard you will find them (just being honest). Interior as you can see by the pictures is all new. Dash completely rebuilt. I am not using the idiot lights (I like to see pressures and temps) so I have a small gauge cluster below dash (see picture-you can remove easily if you dont like). Speedometer, fuel gauge, lights all work fine. Clock works every now and then. All dash controls work. Never put in a radio as you can see by the pictures, wires are there just never decided what I wanted to put in so the new owner can put in whatever they want. Seats - all have new foams and covers and were done by an upholstery shop. new carpet and floor mats are also installed. The covertible top is also brand new (camel in coler) and really goes well with the exterior color. New convertible top motor/pump and both lift cylinders as well are new including lines and top switch). The top has "real" glass in the rear "not" plastic and I had a boot made to cover the top when the top is down (see pictures). The interior of the trunck was sprayed with the spatter paint, Has new liner and spare tire (see pictures). I do not have a jack but you can get them pretty easy. I have done the best I can to describe the vehicle (No warranty expressed or implied, As is where is), and as you can see I have not been shy to point out any flaws. I am not in a bind to sell it just have not found the time to enjoy it with all the other activities. If the reserve is not met I will keep it and hopefully I will drive it more next spring. I have a clear Texas title in my name, PHS documents have been received and will go with the car. I am not interested in any trades and I prefer to let the auction play out so I DONT have a buy it now price so please dont ask. This is a nice true - real GTO with very few minor details needing attention, so if you have any questions let me know and I will reply. $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours via pay-pal and the balance within 7 days (see terms). Buyer arranges and pays for all freight/transportation. On Dec-11-11 at 11:09:55 PST, seller added the following information: I added a few extra pictures - chasis with body off with front suspension going in, motor on the chasis (orginally was going to be a black fire wall but chnaged mind to have motor compartment same color as car so painter removed body again), and a picture of the floor at the paint shop. I will try and take some photos of the undercarriage (per request) and post later. On Dec-11-11 at 13:19:10 PST, seller added the following information: Well I guess I am at my picture max-Ebay said I have to remove some before I can add anymore (under-carriage). I took 5 photos of the under carriage and I will have to remove 5 of the existing photos to make room. I will do this tomorrow evening so other lookers have time to see what has already been posted. On Dec-11-11 at 18:26:15 PST, seller added the following information: I had a question pertaining to the AC and accidentally forgot to post to the listing (want to make sure everyone has the same informaion) - here is my response. Yes the Ac is working. I just fired up the GTO to confirm since I have not had the AC on for some time. If anything may be a bit low on freon, last time I used it (100 degree day down here) it didn't seem to blow as cold as it had. I also would like to add the comment I made above about the weather strip popping out of the driver side rear qtr window, I think this window could also use some proper alignment. It was working fine but I dont think the body shop guys got the nuts tight (alignment) and they must have loosened up because the adjustment is off when window is completely up. I looked at the transmission leak, and "appears" to be coming out of the front seal, why I dont know because it is a brand new seal - thought I would updated and advise all. I will try and put the pictures of the under carriage on tomorrow evening once I figure out how to remove some of the pictures I already have on there. On Dec-12-11 at 16:46:21 PST, seller added the following information: According to Ebay once you reach the max picture count you cannot remove and add additional pictures. So if you would like to see the pictures of the undercarriage send me a message and I will reply with the photos. Body is solid and the only complaint that I had is where they repaired there was not alot of attemention to detail on the seams. Keep in mind that this is underneath (mainly rear) and is not seen - but once again telling you what it is.
