Vehicle Detail
I'm selling off a couple of my long-term projects and this one is a 1961 BMW R60/2 motorcycle. As you can tell from the pictures, this is a parts bike or serious project. It's a shame to part it out, since the engine, frame, and neck plate all match, but it's obviously missing a lot and in need of some serious effort. The bike is being sold strictly as-pictured. If you don't see it on the bike, it's not included. The engine is presently stuck and I have not tried to free it up. The carbs are a pair (1/24/125 and 1/24/126). The final drive is a 25/8 and the trans is a standard trans (not an "S" model). There are numerous chips on the head fins, and one of the heads has the exhaust flange threads stripped. This was a sidecar bike and all the sidecar mounts appear to be present and accounted for. As you can see the bike has spent extensive time outside. The rear fender is pretty badly rusted and there is surface rust present on most everything else. I believe the bike could be saved and restored, but at the very least there are a lot of good parts on it. I just can't bring myself to part it out. I do not have a title for this bike, it is being sold with a bill of sale only. I do not know the actual miles since there is no speedometer present. The bike does roll, the transmission feels like it shifts up through the gears (although without a clutch cable I can't test it very well). The bike is being sold as-is, no reserve and no buy-it-now. I have described it to the best of my knowledge and abilities, but it is a 50 year old motorcycle that has not been running or registered for many many years. If you have any questions, need more information, or would like to check it out in person please feel free to contact me. A deposit of $250 is required within 72 hours of the auction close via paypal, postal money order, or bank wire transfer. The balance is due via cash at pickup, postal money orders, or bank wire transfer. The bike is being sold pick-up only. Shipping, if required, is solely the responsibility of the buyer. If you have a concern about any of the terms of the auction please contact me BEFORE you bid so I can resolve them with you. Thank you.On Dec-07-11 at 08:06:17 PST, seller added the following information: I have received some interest from international bidders and need to clarify my statement on payment and shipping arrangements. I am quite willing to sell the bike to international bidders but I must ask that they contact me prior to bidding. Shipping is still the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will not recommend a shipper, arrange a shipment, or accept excess payment to give the balance to a shipper. PayPal is accepted only as an option for the deposit. The balance of the sale price for an international transaction would have to be via bank wire transfer since the buyer could not purchase US Postal Money Orders or furnish cash at the time of pickup. Sorry, no cashier's checks, personal checks, PayPal for the complete balance, or any other payment method. The bike will not be released to any buyer or shipper until payment has been made in full using an approved source. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.
