Vehicle Detail

This 1953 Willys Wagon is up for auction for the second time in the last few days. The first auction which ended on 12/3 was won by a "Suspicious" bidder from whom there was no response to complete the sale. This time around , I have added a best offer option as there were several bidders over the initial low reserve. Nothing about the Willys has changed. It remains a street rod style restoration. Color is Cadillac red with red interior. Inside is dated red carpet and what appears to be red Chevy vinyl bucket seats.(Im not sure but I dont believe that they are leather). Drive train is rear wheel which was apparently converted from 4wd during what I believe was an early 90's restoration. Engine is a Chevy 327 V-8 with headers, Holley carb, Edelbrock intake manifold, and I believe some type of performance cam shaft (based on the way she idles). Transmission is a GM TH350 automatic with a B&M shifter. Radio is AM-FM cassette and sits in the glove box. Wipers work and are electric. Also has tilt steering wheel. The body is rock solid with no evidence of rust anywhere. There are a few chips in the paint but overall the body and paint are quite good. The chrome wheels show some pitting but still present well as you can see in the photos. There is no rear seat and no extra parts. The original wood slats remain under the floor in the rear with the exception of one which looks to be newer. Rear shocks are yellow Monroe Magnums. The front differential remains and is free wheeling with the original yoke in place. There is no heat, A/C or any kind of fan driven ventilation nor is there any evidence that it ever existed. I dont know whether or not fan driven heat and vent were an option back in the day but I suspect that they were. Tire tred looks near new with some age cracks on the side walls. She has GM dual brakes, power steering and a manually open sun roof which cranks open a few inches.. Rear end is a 9" Ford. She starts well. runs strong and drives fine. Some of the bidders have asked about driving it home from here in Wisconsin. Heres my honest impression: I have driven this Willys about 100 miles, it runs very well, has plenty of power and really has no driveability issues. The draw backs are: No Heat,no seat belts and I would say a reasonable highway speed of probably 60-65 MPH. There is plenty of power to go fast but its 50's architecture and I would be prone to be on the safe side until you get to know the car. All gauges register and are functional The miles on the odometer may be accurate but I certainly cannot attest to that. This is a really very nice old Willys which can be driven as is or brought back to original if desired. Please contact me with any questions and I will get back to you asap. Because E-Bay pulls all info when a bidder is "suspicious" I was unable to contact the 2nd or 3rd place bidders so please bid again or contact me direct through e- mail...Good bidding.
