Vehicle Detail

I believe I am the second owner of this Alfa. I have owned it for about 16 years and bought it with about 77,000 miles on it. It was apparently in at least one wreck before I bought it. Some of the repaint on the front left fender is cracking and the left front door is a little difficult to open. I have not been in any accidents with it. The top is the one that was on it when I bought it. It has retained its color well and has no exterior cracks, though the back window has a break in it. The insides of the top are frayed or broken in places. The driver's seat is badly cracked and the passenger's seat has a few smaller breaks. The body has no dents. There is rust in various areas. The worst is under the tire in the trunk (picture attached) and secondly under the driver's footwell. There are no rust breaks in the exterior body. I did not drive it in the snow, but that did not stop rust, though rust condition is better than in older Spiders. I drove the car on a 240 mile roundtrip in one day in September. To be roadworthy, it appears to need a front right disc brake and a brake master cylinder. The odometer/speedometer does not work. (The odometer reads 171,700 but has been driven little since the odometer quit.) I have put in a toggle switch so that the instrument lights and rear lights come on as part of the turn signal switch in the steering column went bad. I open the gas tank lid by going into the trunk. For parts, most everything else is working ok, I believe. The dashboard is in good shape. I am reinstalling the original steering wheel. The engine starts up well, even after sitting for a while, and runs well. The transmission is in good shape as well as the clutch. The radiator was recently cleaned. The exterior paint is in decent shape, except some cracking on the front left fender. The Yokahoma AVS tires are 12 years old. The original Graduate wheels were replaced with alloy wheels painted black from a 1976 Alfa Spider. Terms of the sale are cash or certified cashier's check. I could deliver the car within a nearby proximity, like metropolitan Washington, DC and Baltimore. Otherwise, buyer is responsible for shipping. The car has a June 2012 Virginia inspection sticker. The car is over 25 years old so no longer requires a Virginia emissions test, I believe. If you were thinking of driving this car over a period of time, you must consider its age and should have some auto mechanical/electrical know-how to deal with possible "eccentricities." Inspection of the car is recommended.
