The car is exceptional condition and is being offered at a fraction of its originally delivered price of $98,835.00+ (not including tax, license, registration, etc.)~. Within the previous 100 miles, the 997 was inspected and received a Porsche PPI (pre Purchase Inspection) along with the required service (as a function of time, not mileage). As expected with a high caliber example, the Porsche is a one owner car, enjoys a totally clean Car Fax report and was originally delivered to a Northern California Porsche dealer. The car has not been sold at auction or passed from dealer to dealer. Of course, all of the factory book and maintenance records are included with the Carrera C4S (including the window sticker). Classic Cars Ltd. has been in business for close to 20 years and enjoys an excellent national / international relationship with 650~ positive eBay feedback items. Purchasing a Collector Car - Things to Consider X. About Classic Cars Ltd. I. PORSCHE CARRERA 2006 C4S - HISTORY While most of you that read this listing will probably be very familiar with the Porsche C4S, we thought it would be appropriate to include a few reviews from prominent automobile magazines along with specifications of the car. Section V contains specific information regarding this particular Porsche 2006 C4S. When it comes to the Porsche 911, let's start at the beginning. Shortly after all the dinosaurs died and turned into oil, Porsche launched the 911. There were a huge number of models spawned after the first officially designated 911 appeared in 1965. The basic shape hasn't changed radically to this day, nor has the rear-engined layout, although there have been a few developments along the way. The key milestones in 911 developments include the 1972 Carrera RS model - still viewed by some as the definitive 911 - the launch in 1974 of the first turbocharged model, the arrival of all-wheel drive variants in 1989 and, in 1997, the introduction of water rather than air cooling. The model that ushered this change in was the 996 generation (latter day Porsche models having a three number 'code' to denote their model type. For example an early Boxster is a 986, a late one a 987 in Porsche speak). The Porsche 997 is the project code for all models belonging to the sixth generation of 911's built since 2004 until today. The evolution of the Porsche 911 into the 997 was more evolutionary than revolutionary as it was with its predecessor the 996. The exterior underwent a redesign bringing back some of the styling elements of the old classic 911s last seen with the 993. Most prominent the return of classic circular headlights (instead of the fried egg headlights of the 996) and the typical waist at the rear of the car. Although the rest of the design of the car wasn't changed that evidently, the 996 and the 997 only shared the same roof panel. This redesign was greatly appreciated by enthusiasts all around the world who also supported the clear distinguishability between the "independent" 997 911 and the 987 (C) Boxster / Carrera model. The 997 is powered by a water cooled 3.6 liter power plant that developed 325bhp @ 6800rpm or, in the S version, a new 3.8 liter engine for delivering 355 bhp @ 6600rpm and 400Nm @ 4600rpm respectively. The Carrera 2 is the rear-wheel drive and the Carrera 4 the all-wheel drive version. Porsches conservative power politics combined with their slightly increased weight caused some criticism among enthusiasts as the new models did not improve in performance compared to the 996 while other sports car manufacturers "armed" their new models with more hp with each evolution (e.g. BMW M3 or Audi S4). The critics forgot though that a Porsche always has been very fast also if seeming to be a bit underpowered on the paper. The 997 interior was completely redesigned with the most prominent changes included a redesigned instrument cluster, steering wheel, door panels and seats. II. WHAT DO THE EXPERTS SAY ABOUT THE 2006 CARRERA C4S? "In Sport mode the C4S is about as good as a street-legal road car gets. There's no roll in turns and no dive when you hammer on the brakes. The steering couldn't get any better and even the stability control system stays out of the way. As long as you keep into the throttle it puts the power where its needed most, making you feel like a driver three times as talented. Considering that most of us are only half as good as we think, you come out ahead." Inside Line / Edmunds "Among sports cars, Porsche's safety, reliability, and build quality are incomparable." Motor Trend Magazine "The engineering changes yield what feels like a whole new 911. The handling dynamics reek of confidence." Automobile Magazine "In fact, there's enough pleasure and performance to be had in the Carrera 4S that the upcoming 911 Turbo may be unnecessary." Car & Driver Magazine III. THIS PARTICULAR C4S This Porsche comes to us, as do the majority of our cars, as a result of a referral from one of our very good customers. We have sold a number of cars for this client and the his friends consistently own exceptional, well cared, high end vehicles. This desirable Porsche 997 is no exception. Those that are familiar with the Porsche " models 997"are aware that the C4S receives rave reviews for its overall handling and performance. Additionally, the Porsche 997 offers Porsche's superb engineering and, as a result of the high level of "creature comforts", represents a very usable "driver." So, why is the Porsche for sale? Well, the owner struggled with offering the car for sale but a number of realities have led him to the conclusion that it is time to let the Porsche go to another "Caregiver." The cars low mileage of 16,850 since the owner purchased the car new in 2006 is certainly not a reflection on his appreciation or enthusiasm for the C4S. However, he finds that his schedule and family commitments simply do not provide him with the opportunity to enjoy the Porsche. So, as opposed to not being able to use the car as much as he would like, for the time being it is time to sell the sports car and concentrate on soccer, skiing and other activities with the family. The owner picked up his brand new Porsche at Michael Stead Porsche, in Walnut Creek, Ca, a suburb of San Francisco on August 5, 2006 and the car has remained in the Bay area ever since. The Porsche was never sold through any dealer auction nor did it "live" in another part of the country. The "997" has always been a California car and is currently licensed and registered until August, 2012. The Porsche is received a service within the previous 100 miles and comes with all of its original paperwork (including the window sticker to show options, original pricing, etc.) and all of the documents that would have been received at the time of delivery. Specifically, these items include: - Original window sticker - 2 original keys - Factory window sticker - Porsche Owner's manual - Porsche Maintenance Booklet (Stamped with original delivery date / dealer name) - Carera S quick reference guide - Warranty & customer information - Roadside information (still covered) - Dealer directory - Michelin tire brochure - CD operation manual - CD quick reference guide - Leather case & "Tin" to hold all of the above materials V. PORSCHE CARRERA C4S - CONDITION a) MECHANICAL CONDITION The new owner of the C4S will receive the complete documentation of service / maintenance records from Michael Stead Porsche, the delivering dealer and service location. The cars particular owner exceeded the Porsche recommended service schedule as a result of the cars low mileage and had service performed as a function of time vs. mileage. With only 16, 850 miles, the car has required minimal service but has received the necessary repairs and maintenance under warranty. Specifically, the following should be noted: - As of 11/21/11 any and all Porsche factory recalls have been completed - 9/22/06 (1,589 Miles) - Reseal cam cover as a result of minor oil leak, re-install front 3M protective coating as a result of a "bubble", Bleed and refill cooling system, charge A/C and power steering system - 6/20/07 (4,184 miles) - 4 wheel alignment, check fault memory - clear with no findings - 12/5/06 - New car cover purchased (Porsche cover at a cost of $270.81 - used once) - 7/31/07 (4,570 miles) - Inspection, replaced rear tires - 12/27/07 (6,225 miles) - Perform annual / bi-annual maintenance, Minor service completed, replace front tires, updated Porsche recall campaign #W737, DME module replaced - 9/22/08 (8,402 miles) - Minor maintenance I - Oil filter, cabin filter, brake fluid flush / change, antifreeze flush and other normal complete inspection - 10/14/08 (8,754 miles) - Pre-event inspection, address minor warranty issues including rattle in sunroof area - 12/24/08 (9,739 miles) -Pre-event inspection. Detailed inspection and noted on inspection sheet - pass 100% - 2/23/09 (10,436 miles) - Pre-event inspection 100% pass checked all Porsche required service items - 7/21/11 - New Porsche Battery - 10/21/11 (16,850 miles) - Complete 12,000 mile minor service - Note: Brake, tire and safety inspection performed and all within acceptable limits. Brakes 75%+ Tires 70% + There are no faults in the computer system and all of the electrical and other functions are, of course 100% operation as ne would expect from a Porsche of this caliber. b) COSMETIC CONDITION We must admit that describing this Porsche is straightforward. While the phrase "Like New" is often times misused, it clearly applies in this case. Every part of the car, both inside and out rates extremely high and reflects the high level of "cost no object" care that this car has received. The cars color combination make it one of our favorites and the combination of deep Metallic blue, "Sand Beige" leather and red calipers is simply striking. By adding the optional colored Porsche crest wheel caps the large 19" Porsche alloys are further enhanced for a great look. The Porsche exterior condition reflects its very low 16,850 miles. The Porsche is free from the normal road rash that is so common on the Porsche 911's and a 3M protective coating was applied to the front of the Porsche when the car was new to minimize potential damage to the front of the car. The body is very straight, has never been involved in an accident and has a completely clean Car Fax report. The owner is a "mature" driver and has driven the car almost exclusively (his wife has driven the car with him in the passenger seat). As a result of the minimal use and little / no exposure to the elements, the C4S has superb paint that is free from all but the most minor imperfections that can be seen only upon the most critical close inspection. Of course, the car has been garaged for its entire life and received regular professional detailing to ensure that he Porsche looked its best at all times for its proud original owner. The exterior trim is equally as good with no nicks or scrapes on the bumpers (a suburban car so there is none of the "big city" parking damage), noticeable door dings or signs of previous or current damage or imperfections. and lenses. The wheels are factory 19" Sport wheels and are in perfect condition, free of nicks and damage. When the car needed replacement tires the factory replacements were utilized, not inexpensive, incorrect tires. So, the car still rides on the highest quality Michelin Sport Pilot tires. . The Porsche has been a one owner / driver car so the interior is equally as nice as the exterior showing no signs of wear and tear or and has seen passengers only a handful of times. The interior is exceptional from the seats to the door panels, trim, dash and all other parts of the inside cabin. The interior is fitted with the options including the Sport Chrono package (never used), power package and heated seats. The old adage "A photograph is worth 1,000 words" applies when it comes to the photos of the interior. It is simply as good as it gets and has the appearance of a new car. The rear fold down seats are in fantastic condition as is the remainder of the Porsches interior, and other interior trim. - The car has Porsche logo mats in the front that are in excellent condition along with rear carpeted mats. Also included are the following: - Rear carpeted in mats (not in place when photos were taken but shown out of car with car cover) - Rennline aluminum mats (shown in photos) - Porsche logo car cover & bag (used one time) - Two remote keys and original wallet key - Front California license plate (not currently mounted) VI. MECHANCIAL CONDITION - DRIVING THE CARRERA S As expected from a Porsche with 16,850 miles, the car runs and drives perfectly. An inspection less than 100 miles ago confirms the mechanical strength of the Porsche and the ongoing preventive maintenance has been completed in an attempt to minimize any future mechanical issues. The Carrera S has an absolutely intoxicating exhaust sound. While not offensive or overly loud, the car has the perfect blend of intake roar, mechanical "melody" and guttural "burbles" resulting in music that has us reaching to turn off the cars sound system to better hear the car's engine. As the revs rise, the exhaust tone becomes increasingly pleasing. The cars handling is superb aided by the all wheel drive (4S) system. While we haven't driven the Carrera even close to its maximum capabilities, the braking and steering are absolutely first rate and the car begs to be driven harder and harder. The Carrera S is extremely comfortable under all driving conditions ranging from a daily commute to, well, more spirited activities. As always, Porsche has designed and delivered a superb driving instrument in the Carrera S. The car combines precision, balance, gusto, style, and what we imagine would be impressive test-track results if that is your forte. The S is simply amazing fun to drive. It's the hot-looking partner that you've been looking for, will enjoy on your first date, and never tire of. VII. OPTIONS / UPGRADES In addition to the extensive list of standard features on the Carrera S model, this car is fitted with upgrades / options that will appeal to a true Porsche enthusiast. Make no mistake; the car has a host of convenience and comfort features but none of the options that add excessive, unnecessary weight. The majority of the options were chosen to enhance the cars performance, safety and handling characteristics. Specifically, the car is fitted with the following: - Power Seat Package (+1,550.00) - Sport Chrono Package (+$920.00) - Bose High End Sound Package (+$1,390.00) - Navigation for PCM $2,070 - Heated Front Seats (+$500.00) - Midnight Blue Metallic Paint (+$825.00) - Wheel Caps & colored crests (+$185.00) - Power Seat Package (+$1,550.00) - Matching Front Floor Mats (+$90.00) - Module for telephone PCM (+950.00) - Sand beige floor mats (+115.00) Total Cost (less tax, license, registration, etc. = $98,835.00 VIII. On Nov-28-11 at 14:10:24 PST, seller added the following information: We neglected to include a few very important items in the auction that we are adding at this time. We mentioned that the car received all of its required servicing but failed to mention the service that was performed at 14,985 miles (about 2,000 mi. ago) that included the Maintenance II, brake fluid change and required Porsche service. Brakes were noted as 80% remaining at that time. The C4S comes with two Porsche car covers. The first is a harder shell exterior cover that was only used once while traveling and the other is a soft indoor cover that was used with some frequency. The Porsche is fitted with the desirable Porsche crests embossed in the top portion of the front seats. Finally, the latter portion of the ad indicates that the car has 17K miles, the actual mileage at this writing is 16,850 but a few addtiional miles may be accumulated for local test rides.
