** LAST chance to pick this up before she's stored away for the Winter. You won't find one like this for a better price!!! Up for sale is my Great Uncle's 1974 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible with approximately 57,000 original miles. The car was originally stored in the Albany, NY area for at least a decade before it began its journey toward restoration. Since the early 2000's the car has passed through a few family members with minor work being done here and there. Its original color was brown, I am unsure exactly which one. The new color was called Cherry Red Metallic, and it was painted by a man named Dick Turner of Wells, NY. I don't believe the paint job was ever fully considered "done." It is not perfect. The motor and transmission were serviced and completed around 2006. The work was performed at a small shop called Heald's Garage in Poultney, Vermont. I recently spoke with the owner, John Heald, about exactly what was done. According to him, the motor needed to be refreshed after sitting for so long. Upon further inspection of the motor he found a bent valve. He performed a valve job, and replaced the rings and bearings too. The tranny was then sent out for a refresh (unsure where it was sent). He mentioned that a few hard parts were replaced and it was resealed. The tranny was also tested by the company before being shipped back. At this point, the motor and tranny were considered to be in top working condition. The car did not receive any other work after the paint and motor/tranny refresh. It was stored in a storage unit in Vermont until I came to pick up the car last Summer (August 2010). When I picked it up, the car started right up, and even drove down the road without an issue. The transmission shifted smoothly. I trailered it to Syracuse, NY - where the car currently resides. It has been stored properly and is always covered. The car has no leaks of any sort. Just waiting for the right buyer to come along. I have verified that this car DOES have the very rare (JL9) Track Master anti-skid option. The brake pedal reads "TrackMaster," indicating that this vehicle was equipped with the option from the factory. Other items to note: I have a replacement white convertible top (uninstalled). The top has a plastic rear window, not the expensive glass replacement. The car does not have a muffler on it. It sounds amazing, but obviously needs to be fixed. The brakes have not been updated. They still work, but would need to be addressed before being considered road-worthy.I am unsure of the suspension's condition. She drives straight, but I'm sure the shocks are fairly worn. The tires have not been replaced. All four hold air fine, but are very old. The spare is included but has a flat. The interior seems to be in great condition. It needs some cleaning and care, but there are no rips or tears. The lights, dash, power windows, locks, etc. all seem to work properly. I have not tried to mess with the power top, but I was told it should work fine by some of my relatives. Something about needing oil for the top's motor and it would be good to go.I drove the car up and down the street today (Thanksgiving). The motor and trans run fantastic! This car will make someone very, very happy. If you have any other questions, or would like to come and see the car in person, please contact me through eBay. I will contact the winning bidder by phone following the auction. Thanks for looking!!
