Vehicle Detail

With much regret we are selling our beautiful 1968 classic GMC Pickup. It is an original condition California truck that had been owned by just one family. We are just the second owners of this ¾ ton, fully loaded and most luxurious of all, “Custom Camper” edition pickups. It is loaded with tons of rare and valuable Factory options, all backed up with the original build sheet still tucked behind the seat. Some of the many options include the 4 barrel 396 Big block engine, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, bulletproof "Positraction" Dana 60 full floating differential on heavy duty leaf springs, special Camper equipment, full gauge package, auxiliary fuel tank, front stabilizer bar, power steering, power brakes, extra soft seat foam, and even the very rare factory installed roof marker lights. This pickup has been very well kept, and is a very original, numbers matching classic. The truck was purchased by me from the original owner’s daughter who inherited it after his passing, and comes complete as beautifully running daily driver. The first owner took great pride in how well he kept up the truck, and only installed a few aftermarket parts (like the running boards, trailer brake wiring, tall valve covers, and an Edelbrock carburetor) to make the truck run better or be more comfortable. It has just 90,000 miles showing on the odometer. The factory original, matching numbers (T0308XH) Big Block engine is very strong, extremely smooth, and sounds great, and easily pulls the vehicle up to speed with or without any load. This is the 396 cubic inch engine is rated at 310 horsepower, and around 400 ft/ lbs of torque. The dual exhaust is in good shape and is nice and quiet. The Automatic transmission and rare Power Lock (Positraction) driveline is in great shape. The highly desired Custom Camper option adds a huge sway bar, full Chrome trim packages, and heavy duty springs all around, too. The power brakes are incredibly strong, yet very progressive, and the parking brake is strong and sure. The truck operates perfectly in all weather and traffic conditions. It starts right up with the aftermarket 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor and factory high rise intake manifold. The choke cable is not functioning, however, so you have to manually set the choke in very cold weather. The truck rides smoothly on the original rubber GM body mounts, and the road motions are slow and controlled, with good steering and handling. The Power Steering is quiet and effortless, and the truck is very easy to drive by anyone. This truck is ready to go, and can be driven to anywhere in the country if desired. The rest of the vehicle is just as it was when it left the factory, and is ALL original and unmolested. A true survivor that is ready for either a restoration to show quality; or could be used as a daily driver work truck, used for trips to the dumps or the feed store; use it to tow your boat or show vehicle in style, or anything you wish. This is not a restored truck by any means, and has all the normal squeaks, rattles, wind noise and such that are common in any vehicle this age. In the interest of full disclosure, here is a list of several items that help further describe the vehicle: The glass is good, the AM/ FM cassette radio fits in the original dash openings and sounds good, the body is very straight with one small dent by the left front fender, the front bumper is damaged, the horn is not working, the heater is disconnected, there is a small rust area on the passenger rocker panel, the floors are solid, the truck was repainted green at some point, the original color was gold and white, the auxiliary gas tank door is locked and we don’t have the key, the passenger arm rest is missing, the original seat cover is very worn, the dash pad is cracked, the steering wheel has small cracks, the doors and the hood shut like a brand new truck, the carpet is old and worn, the dash is uncut and in great shape, the glove box has been painted; the replacement tires and rims come with the truck, and are at about 50%; The truck comes with the original spare tire still installed, and the 4 original 16” split rims and tires shown in the picture will be placed in the truck bed before shipping or pickup. The tires and rims currently on the truck were replaced by us to make the truck safer to drive, as the bias ply tires that were on the truck were about 30 years old. I have been driving the truck quite a bit lately, and it has always started right up, and runs great with no issues. Well, that about explains everything we can think of, and we’re hoping the truck makes it to a good home. Please see a short video of the truck running on You Tube by clicking on the link below: http://youtu.be/ebLdh2T5nsI Please don't hesitate to ask any questions by phone. My phone number is 916-257-3450. All questions are welcomed, and will be answered honestly and promptly. It is harder for us to check email, but every effort will also be made to answer text or Ebay emails. A deposit of $500 is due from buyer at auction close. The remaining balance is due by paypal or at pickup in cash. Buyer is responsible for picking up truck. I may be able to help with shipping arrangements by being present at time of pickup if needed, but we cannot be responsible for any shipping costs or management. The truck must be picked up within 3 weeks of auction close. This vehicle is being sold as-is without warranty of any kind, expressed or implied.
