Vehicle Detail

With much regret we are selling our beautiful 1969 classic Chevy truck. It is an original condition Rust Free and solid California truck with the original matching numbers engine and transmission. This ¾ ton, fully loaded and most luxurious of all, “Custom Camper/ 20” edition truck was as good as Chevrolet offered back in the day. This truck has just undergone a complete, professional Frame Off restoration, and almost all the parts are either new, or were too good to justify replacement. It is loaded with tons of rare and valuable Factory options, all backed up with the original protecto sheet in the glove box. Some of the many options include the 4 barrel 350 cubic inch V8 engine, automatic transmission, full floating rear end on smooth riding trailing arms, Custom Camper special equipment, power steering, power brakes, deluxe interior package, and even the very rare wood bed floor. The original numbers matching 350 engine has the high nickel 010 casting block bored .030 over. It has been completely rebuilt, blueprinted and balanced with high compression pistons, and a strong upgraded Edelbrock Perfomer-Plus high HP camshaft topped off with a Summit Pro street harmonic balancer. The heads are brand new Summit Racing Heads with new 2.02 valves, guides, seals, upgraded valve springs, and unleaded fuel seats. It has all new gaskets and seals and doesn’t leak a drop. It comes with a brand new Edelbrock 4 barrel electric choke carburetor and matching aluminum intake manifold with a new GM HEI pointless distributor, wires, and plugs for reliable long lasting tuning. I was told by the engine builder it should make about 375 Horsepower, and over 400 lbs/ft of torque. What I know for sure is the engine is extremely smooth and powerful, and easily pulls the vehicle up to speed with or without any load. The transmission and driveline have also been serviced and overhauled. The automatic 3 speed Hydramatic Turbo 400 shifts very quickly, but also is smooth, and does not have any harsh shift kits or other modifications. This is just a nice, perfectly adjusted automatic transmission. The two piece driveshaft has rebuilt U-joints and carrier bearings, and is balanced as well. The Custom Camper option adds a huge sway bar and heavy duty springs all around for good handling even with heavy loads. The brakes are overhauled from the made in USA Master Cylinder to the heavy duty booster, to the springs and shoes. They are incredibly strong, yet very progressive, and add a level of safety and security not often seen in an older vehicle. The parking brake is strong and sure. The tires are 2 years old, but are high quality Firestone Transforce A/T M&S “E” rated tires with great grip, low road noise, and a smooth controlled ride. The tread is at 50%. The Chrome wheels and tires were computer balanced and rotated just this week. The ride is sure and smooth, and seriously rides better than most new trucks. The Factory Power Steering is effortless. All the bumps are absorbed smoothly with heavy duty tie rods, ball joints, steering arms, shocks, etc. The truck rides like it’s on a cloud on the GM rubber body mounts, and the road motions are slow and controlled. The interior is also fully restored and is designed for looks and comfort. The specially equipped “Custom Camper” soft seat foam and Houndstooth seat cover offer good support for even long trips. The interior also comes with all new dash trim and pads, factory gauge package, OEM Steering wheel, new carpet and sound pads, chrome trims and restored seat belts. Please research the “Custom Camper” edition truck, as it was a unique to the era option that was intended to separate with both heavy duty and luxurious items these trucks from the others, and also has become a favorite for the collectors. The heating and defroster system is working great, and includes newly restored OEM diverter boxes, air delivery hoses, heater core, belts, and a brand new lever and switch assembly. The Fan blows strong and easily clears the windshield in bad weather. The Factory AM radio looks great, and the dash is still original and uncut, and there are no speaker holes in either of the doors. The cooling system is also restored with a new 4 core radiator, water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hoses, and a heavy duty fan with the stock fan shroud that is perfectly matched in the correct location. The truck operates perfectly in all weather and traffic conditions. It starts right up with a new made in USA starter. The battery has also been replaced with a heavy duty model with the correct heavy duty battery cables. The auxiliary fuel tank was removed for cleaning, but never re-installed. It comes with the truck if desired, and is complete with all the brackets and dual gas gauge wiring and such. The vehicle was recently inspected for registration and ALL the required items such as the blinkers, horn, exhaust, windshield, windshield wipers, seat belts, engine, brakes, parking brake, transmission, headlights, interior lights, signal lights, steering system, tires, wheels, etc, all passed with flying colors. The truck is very fun to drive, and again runs perfectly. This year and body style is widely recognized as the best of the era, and would make a perfect gift for anyone. The dual exhaust system is of course brand new as well, and has performance 2 1/4 inch pipes from the brand new cast iron manifolds all the way through the high performance mufflers over the axles to a stock exit out the back. The engine sounds great at idle and under acceleration, and settles down to barely audible while cruising. Pulling a trailer or hauling a heavy load doesn’t seem to affect anything other than making the ride even smoother. Lastly the body and paint are in absolutely excellent condition. During the restoration, the bed and front end was carefully removed and dismantled, and repainted in the period correct Dark Blue and white single stage two tone colors with high quality PPG paint. The body is beautifully straight, and the base/ clear coat paint has a bottomless shine. It has all the original body steel and panels, including the rocker arms, cab supports, etc. The tail gate is a little banged up, but it is strong and still functions perfectly. The frame was stripped and painted with black frame paint. No rust of any kind was found during this first and only re-paint. Only a very few trucks from this era are truly this straight and rust free, and it’s rare for any vehicle, especially a truck, to hold up this well. The Factory wood bed was beautifully restored with new American furniture grade Red Oak and all new hardware. The wood was sanded to a mirror finish, and coated in clear high gloss marine Spar Varnish for the best possible UV Protection. The glass is crystal clear all around too. The window beads and seals are original, and not replaced. There are numerous parking lot dings and such in the soft aluminum moldings, however, and the trim is far from perfect, as it is sun faded and not new or replaced. The grille and front bumper is refurbished from a 71 Cheyenne Super. There is also a small lockable storage compartment in the inside of the bed that is perfect for tools, tire chains, or whatever. Well, that about explains everything we can think of, and please call if you have any specific questions, or need additional explanations. This is a fantastically overhauled vehicle that is ready to show or go. That being said, the truck is over 40 years old, and has the typical minor squeaks and rattles, wind noise and such that are common and unavoidable for any vehicle from this era. It is not a Lexus. But still, I would not hesitate for an instant to jump in and drive this beauty to anywhere in the US without even lifting the hood. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.
