Looking for the perfect restoration project? This 1972 Chevelle SS 396/402 is it! The motor and transmission were rebuilt approximately 7 years ago. Not matching numbers, but according to the book on number codes, the block is correct for a 1972 Chevelle. The heads are earlier, from a 1968 Corvette. The mileage is about 5,000 on the rebuild. The motor has not been started in about 5 years but it turns over fine and has very strong compression. I do not know the internals of the motor but it pushes around 500 horsepower. There are no other accessories to the motor, what is pictured is what I have. The rear end is a 331 12-bolt posi. The car has power steering, power disc brakes, and is an a/c car. I do believe I have all the a/c brackets. The fenders have been replaced, as well as the hood. Someone stole the hood and I had to replace. This has always been a southern car, never near salt or the sea. The doors are in really good shape. The fenders have small amounts of rust at the bottom. The hood has surface rust only, no rust through or holes. The floors and trunk pan have no rust holes. Only sheet metal that needs to be replaced is left quarter and lower right quarter. That's it. The roof has several dents from small tree limb, but nothing major. The car is non-vinyl top and has very little rust around back glass. 5 original wheels come with the car. I have another dash pad to go with the car, it will need to be cleaned and re-dyed. The interior and exterior need restoring, but this will be a very beautiful car when finished. This Chevelle is the highly desirable code 24 Ascot Blue exterior with black stripes and black interior. Yes, this is a genuine SS. This car must be trailered or transported at buyer's expense; it will not drive in its current condition. I will hold for up to 30 days while you arrange for shipping or transporting.
