Vehicle Detail

1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce with only 62,463 miles. I am the third owner and have owned the vehicle for 3 1/2 years. It's been a blast to drive but I've decided to sell my toy so I can take the family to Disneyworld this winter! The car has been garaged the entire time I've owned it and is in very good shape for a 22 year old vehicle. The good: This car is rust free and runs and drives great! I drove it over 400 miles roundtrip earlier this summer and had a great time. I would not hestitate to drive it anywhere. The exterior is in great shape. The original paint is clean and glossy with no spiderwebbing or other issues. I wax and buff it twice a year and use spray touch up wax after each car wash. The original converible top vinyl boot is included. These are becoming quite rare and it really makes the car look sharp when the top is down. The interior is in very good shape. The dash is clean and shiny without any cracking or sun damage. The leather has no tears or damage, the carpet is great, and there are original Alfa floor mats in great shape. The Alfa has a wood stearing wheel and a wood shifter knob to give it a classic look. The original factory radio is included and still functions. The tires are Yokohama and in great condition with less than 5,000 miles on them. The alloy rims do not have any pitting on them and minimal "curb feel". The trunk contains a full size spare tire on a 5th alloy rim! I have the original owners manual as well as an Alfa service manual that is included. I am also including a binder that includes detailed step by step instruction and photos on how to replace the convertible top. Take a look at the pictures. This car is clean. I took most of them at close range so the detail could be seen. Don't be fooled by pics shot from 20 feet away to hide imperfections. The not-so-good: The car will need a new top soon. The original one is still on the vehicle and is pretty worn. It works fine but is not weather tight. It was never an issue for me as I always drove with the top down and the boot on. A new quality canvas top can be purchased on Ebay for less than $400. There is a small deep scratch on the hood (see pictures), a small ding on the driver's side front fender, and a two small dimples on the driver's rear fender. The hood has a small outward indentation from previous owner closing the hood on the oil cap while it was off and on top of the engine as well as a bit of gravel chipping on the front. The driver's rear bumper needs to be adjusted slightly as it does not align exactly with the rear bumper. I've tried to detail as much as possible in the pictures. The remote trunk release cable is broken but functional due to a small vise grip I've installed on the cable that can be easily pulled to pop the trunk. There are a couple of fasteners on the boot that could be repaired by an upholstery shop. What makes this Alfa unique? The vehicle is all original with the exception of the door panels. The previous owner used screws to fasten the door panels instead of the correct ones and put holes in the armrests and door panels. I do a lot of woodworking so I remade new door panels with 1/8" baltic birch plywood (much better than original fiber ones) along with custom armrests out of solid maple. Although I have not completed installation, they are included in the auction and anyone moderately handy can finish installing them. All of the parts like map pockets, speaker, & speaker covers are also included. The armrests are definately one of a kind and once installed you will have a look that is very hard to match. This has the potential to be a very speical Alfa with minumal effort. That's pretty much it. I'm not found of letting this car go but I am really looking to forward to spending time with the family. If you'd like to come look at the car in person, please email me though Ebay and we can set up a time & date. I am starting this auction at a very low price with no reserve so it will sell to the highest bidder. Thanks and good luck!On Nov-22-11 at 06:40:05 PST, seller added the following information: On vehicle start up over the weekend, I discovered a small fuel leak by the rear fuel filter under the gas tank. I sent the vehicle over to my mechanic to repair the leak and replace the fuel filter. Receipt for work performed will be provided and all will be good to go before auction end. It is really important to me that the new owner is happy with their purchase and enjoys this vehicle as much as I did. The car will either need to be picked up on Wednesday 11/23 before 9p or after 3p on Sunday 11/27 as I will be out of town during the holiday. Sorry for my poor planning and any inconvenience. After deposit is paid then buyer can call me to discuss pick up arrangments. Thanks. On Nov-22-11 at 17:04:59 PST, seller added the following information: I picked up the car from my mechanic tonight. I also had a brand new Bosch fuel pump installed in addition to the fuel filter work and oil change. Total cost of work was almost $350. I doubt you'll find many sellers willing to invest in a vehicle they are selling. I'm confident that the new owner will really enjoy this Alfa. Thanks again and good luck.
