Up for auction today is our 1970 Chevrolet ½ Ton, Shortbed, stepside pickup. This truck has an all original body, frame, and driveline; with the numbers matching engine, frame numbers, Vin plate, carburetor etc. It is a very nice and solid rust free CA truck and is in nice shape overall, and runs perfectly in all weather conditions. We had planned on keeping this truck for our son to use for college, but unfortunately must sell it now to pay the bills. The engine and transmission were recently overhauled with all new gaskets and new cylinder head and top end components. It also just got a brand new tune up and complete engine compartment overhaul, with brand new plugs, wires, HEI distributor, radiator, thermostat, fluids, filters, belts and hoses, 60 month AC Delco battery, cables, and even a new starter. The factory original, matching numbers (F0514TAF) 292 cubic inch engine is very strong, extremely smooth, and sounds great, and easily pulls the vehicle up to speed with or without any load. This is one of the smoothest engines out there, and these also have incredible low end torque and run forever. The exhaust is in good shape and is nice and quiet. The Turbo Hydramatic 3 speed Automatic transmission works perfectly, and the very rare and highly sought after 12 bolt Positraction rear end is also in excellent shape. This truck is ready to go, and can be driven right now to anywhere in the country without lifting the hood. The vehicle was recently inspected for registration and ALL the items required such as the blinkers, horn, exhaust, windshield wipers, seat belts, engine, brakes, parking brake, transmission, headlights, interior lights, signal lights, Tilt wheel, steering system, tires, wheels, etc, all passed with flying colors. The truck is very fun to drive, and again runs perfectly. This year and body style is widely recognized as the best of the era, and would make a perfect gift for anyone. This is not a restored truck by any means, and has lots of dings and scratches and interior wear, but it is very solid and runs extremely well and is a great investment for any reason. It needs just a couple of small items to be really nice, but is definitely ready for a daily driver right now. Here is a list of all the repair items we can think of: The windshield is cracked though that is a cheap and easy repair on this truck. The heater controls also need to be repaired, as the levers are stuck in heat mode. The dash pad was cracked and removed, and the seat cover is worn. The windshield sprayer nozzles need to be cleaned out, but the wipers work great. And lastly the wood in the bed is getting old. Everything else is good and ready to go.
