Vehicle Detail
I am selling this 1966 Pontiac Lemans Convertible for my Father. I actually know more about the car than he does so I will try to be as thorough as I can about the history. I actually Purchased this car in the late 80's, or early 90's. It was close to my dream car, as I was really looking for a 1967, but 1966 was close enough. I drove the car for many years and through the years made changes to the vehicle. This car originally had a Pontiac 326 but after years of driving it, a pushrod broke and fell down into the motor and snapped the camshaft. I replaced the 326 with a 350 and the vehicle now has a 350 pontiac motor which was running perfectly when it was parked in the late 90's. This car has not been started or driven since the late 90's. The car originally had the 2 speed transmission but that was also replaced with a 3 speed transmission. The transmission that is now in the car worked perfectly when the vehicle was parked, which as I stated was in the late 90's. I was told when I purchased the transmission that It was a universal transimission and at the time would bolt up to any rear wheel General motors vehicle of that era. During the time that I was driving the vehicle I noticed the convertible top was beginning to get some small rips and holes. I did not have the money to replace it so I pulled the car off the road and stored it in my garage. The only issue I had at that time was the top was rotting away. I held onto the car for years with the hope that someday I would be able to replace the top. The longer I waited the more the car seemed to need. Sitting around seemed to be taking its toll. The last time I started the car In The 90's, I noticed that the rubber fuel lines were leaking. The car started and ran even though fuel was leaking from the lines. I knew at that point I would not be driving the car anytime soon. My brother removed a wire from the distributer that he needed for his pontiac, and the car has not been started since. The vehicle sat around even more time and I noticed the patch work that had been done previous to my owning it was beginning to show through. Parts were beginning to rust, things were starting to rot and I decided to sell the vehicle. My father was looking for a project and he decided to buy the car from me. He put the car in storage and just recently retired. He was going to try to do a restoration but after looking at the vehicle, and it having sat in his storage area for 15 years, he decided it was just too big a project to take on for him at this point. To sum it Up This car has so many great parts waiting to be used or You can restore the vehicle, The Engine is a Pontiac 350, The tranmission is a 3 speed auto. Hood, trunk, doors, many interior parts are all still useable. I had a duel exaust put on the car in the 80's although I have not looked under the car to see how it looks. The top worked perfectly when the vehicle was parked. The fact that this car has NOT been operated since the 90's We want to make this clear that It is sold AS IS. The vehicle has no title, and I never needed one to register this car in ct, in the 80's. To the winning bidder. Full payment must be made withing 14 days of auction end via Paypal. Vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of auction end, unless other arrangements have been made with me. There are some old extra parts in the trunk of the vehicle which will also go with the vehicle. Good Luck To winner Bidder This car will Need to be Hauled out on a Flatbed Or Trailer.
