Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1968 Porsche 911L. It's been a good car, I've owned it for a number of years, but I finally fixed my Porsche 944S, and I really don't drive it anymore. So off it goes to a new home. The car is an original, with a factory 911L engine in it. It's been sitting for about 2 years now, the engine starts, runs, makes various noises, the carbs really need to be re-tuned and possibly cleaned up. I had the chain tensioners replaced about 4 years ago, and had the distributor rebuilt by motor meister a year ago. I'll include a link to Youtube of the engine running, idling, and things like that. One will have to have the engine gone through and the carbs cleaned/set up before you can really drive it. Numbers on the inside door frame are: 118-05207 97-6806-L Ok, I have two Youtube videos. The first is of the engine running so you can listen to it: http://youtu.be/RPtxE6pR0RA The second is a tour of the interior with the engine running http://youtu.be/NoF8tsTlGvc Please watch the videos before bidding. The car has a dent in the driver's side door. This is from where I backed into it with my other car while it was in my driveway. The damage was confined to the door itself (see pic) and I picked up a spare driver's side door from a 1968 912. Just haven't gotten around to installing it, repainting the car, and so forth. The car also has some rust, mainly in the rear under the torsion tube, a bit in the front (but not under the battery), and a small hole in the passenger side floor pan. Once again, I'm just not fixing it because I have the 944S, so I really should sell this to someone who is wanting a short wheelbase early model 911. The engine has one modification: The heads on it are from a 911E engine which gives it a good bit more pep. I do have the original six 911L heads with the little valves and springs and all mounted. So if you really really wanted to go pure 911L stock, there you go. The car also has the full set of dashboard gauges, including oil temp and oil level. It's kind of nice actually, I've seen 911L's with the minimal set of gauges, and I like to know what temp the oil is at. The car has one other interesting feature: Air conditioning! It's not hooked up now, but I have the pulley, york compressor, the Aircool vents mounted under the dash, and the evaporator/condenser. The compressor and condenser (the thing in the back) is currently off the car, but all the hoses are there. I'd say it needs a good flushing at the *least* but the car did have AC. So, there you go. I know these things can be worth a fair bit, but I have other things to take up my time, and a 40+ year old car is just not a daily driver for me these days. Hopefully it will go to a good home with someone who wants to have the rust fixed, the engine tuned, and go ripping around town in a short wheel base 911.
