Vehicle Detail
This is my 1974 VW westy camper. I bought this on ebay a few years ago. I am a student in Vermont, and my wife just had our first baby last week. That's why we are selling the bus. I bought this bus a few years ago with my sign-up bonus for joining the Vermont National Guard. It was purchased in Oregon and my dad and I drove it across the country back to Vermont. I used it for the fall months and then took it off the road while I was deployed to Afghanistan. It has never been on the road through a Vermont winter. It is a west coast van with no Vermont road salt rust. The brakes are working good. They made a little noise at first but I'm told it was from sitting. The muffler rusted sitting here and the engine leaks oil from the push-rod tube gaskets. I replaced the fuel pump on the cross-country trip and replaced the tires with the CORRECT VW bus tires. The battery was replaced 2 days ago. We drove it around the block Saturday. The bus runs and shifts pretty good. It is a 1976 motor with a Weber carb. Gets around 24-26 mpg. It has a gasoline heater that I have never tried. Sink with pump, stove top, icebox, foldout tables, bug net, and all the normal Westfalia details. I have shown detailed pics of any surface rust I could find. The bubbles at the wheel-well came from a bad prep before painting NO ROT. Floors are dry and tight All the door-jams, jacking-points, frame doors etc all rust free. All the electrical items worked before I went overseas. It is going to need work but not much to be a daily rider. The interior is fair to good with some wood veneer chips but not much. I need to sell it because I don't want to leave school to support the new baby. I will try to answer questions and please mean it if you bid I have tried to be upfront and honest about the bus - please do the same. Vermont doesn't issue titles on a vehicle this old. You will get a Vermont Bill of Sale and whatever paperwork your state needs filled out. I have more pics if needed. Thanks for looking.
