Vehicle Detail

If you would like to know more about me and what I do please Google search --- JG Francis, Mercedes Motoring --- I have been honored by Mercedes-Benz and featured in several documentary films which focused on the quality of my restorations and my lifestyle with these cars. Mercedes-Benz has also recognized my work in mb! by Mercedes-Benz magazine. The films and articles can be seen on Mercedes-Benz TV or my website. A while back I came across this 1980 300D and realized this was a very special car. It had been owned by one single family in Newport Beach, California and came with a large file of records that totaled over $25,000 since new. It has been maintained with no expense spared; this shows in every area of the car. It has 100% original paint. The paint is a very rare Walnut Brown (Mercedes-Benz paint code 479) with Palomino MB-Tex interior. From the paint, to the chrome, to the rubber, etc., the entire exterior is beautiful. There are no noticeable blemishes that need to be disclosed. There is a power sunroof, power windows, power locks, cruise control, factory Mercedes-Benz 6 disc CD changer in the trunk and factory Mercedes-Benz cassette player in the console. All new top of the line speakers; it also comes with the original Becker AM/FM cassette stereo. It has a brand new set of era correct calico protective coco floor mats and a car cover. It has an era correct pinstripe. The factory spare has never been used. There are no cracks in the dash. There are no cracks in the wood. The interior is just as remarkable as the exterior; from the seats to the garnish moldings, every part has a deep saturation like it has never seen the sun. The car was always garaged. It runs fantastic. Every accessory and option works excellent. It is very fast for a non-turbo and it shifts great. The trunk looks as though it was never used. The undercarriage still has traces of the original cosmoline protective wax undercoating from the factory, as do many other areas of the car. Below is some of the mechanical and cosmetic work that has been done since I acquired the car about 6 months ago (this list is off the top of my head and could easily be much longer). Although this car was incredible to begin with I spent a lot of time and substantial costs getting it to look and drive like it does now. It goes far beyond your typical low mileage diesel. This car is undeniably amazing- refinished the factory 14" Bundt wheels in factory Astral Silver with 3 coats of clear new top of the line Michelin tirestightened parcel nets on front seat backrestspolished air filter housingcharged and serviced the air conditioning with R134 refrigerantnew fuel filtersnew fuel return line hoses all new fuseswent through vacuum system and fixed door locksnew Bosch headlight door housings new Bosch fog lightsmajor 30k service (flushed all fluids, adjusted valves, etc...)new brake pads new b-pillar feltsnew wind lacingnew era correct protective coco floor matsnew driver side door check strapreplaced several garnish moldingspolished all woodnew instrument cluster housingfixed sunroofnew first-aid kit covernew door sealsnew trunk sealnew grill insert, grill cross bars, badge and starnew wiper assembly insertsRemoved all exterior components for cleaning (i.e. bumpers, grill, mirrors, headlights, taillights, emblems, belt molding, rocker molding, door handles, cowl vents covers, windshield wipers, wood, door panels, seats, a, b and c pillars, etc...cleaned and polished every area of the car, including intense attention to top and bottom of wheel wells, chassis, engine compartment, door jams, behind bumpers, behind headlights, under floor mats, intense attention to the engine compartment, removed battery, mister reservoir, air filter housing, polished sill plates, door latches, seat hardware, garnish moldings...and on and on...the detail work alone took 6 weeks.)I have set the reserve price to reflect all of the above. Perhaps there is someone out there who will truly appreciate and understand the countless hours of love and labor, the fine details and fanatical craftsmanship, the substantial costs it took to bring this car to this level and why that warrants a premium price. If you have any questions shoot me an email and I'll answer them. I'm also available by phone, but email me first if you would like my number. Please ask any questions you feel like I have not covered so we don't miscommunicate on anything. I have great feedback and would like to keep it that way. Good luck! Oh- one last thing, even though this car looks great in photos it actually presents itself better in person. I would welcome anyone who wants to come take it for a spin. Thanks again.
