Vehicle Detail
This 1953 Chevy Panel 3100 (half-ton) project was overhauled 20 years ago with replacement OEM parts with very few miles since the initial cross-country road trip done on it. I still has the original (late-model) 216 inline 6 motor and the 4 speed (3 with granny) transmission. I have a 235 available which I was going to rebuild but I have always wanted to change the gears or transmission as freeway speeds just aren't available now. The mechanical fuel pump has been bypassed by an electrical one more suited to hills and free-ways and the entire system is 12 volt. In addition the brakes were upgraded to a dual master cylinder with OEM 3/4 ton wheel cylinders but what I was trying to achieve will only be possible with a disk front brake conversion. It has a western body in good shape but there is rust in the usual problem spots that has not yet been dealt with and it needs to be cleaned up and painted. Sheet metal is available for the problem spots (behind the front fenders and in the upper back corners.) but what you see is what you get as I haven't done any primer or work on the body in a long time. This is is a perfect vehicle for someone interested in restoring it as I am clearly not making it a priority and it has been mostly sitting in front of my house in Seattle used for the occasional dump run or joy ride. The buyer is responsible for picking up the truck or paying for shipping. Mileage is unknown as the speedometer and gauges are too old to function, I had tried to refurbish them but they need to be replaced or rebuilt before they will function.
