Vehicle Detail
Here we have what could be the one of the best if not the best unrestored 66 R code Galaxie in existance. You never know what could be tucked away in a garage somewhere but I have never seen a better Unrestored 66 Galaxie anywhere. I was lucky enough to purchase this car off a friend of mine that deals alot with these rare fords and when i first set my eyes on it i could not believe what I was seeing. Im a pontiac guy and never even look at fords in general but I am a survivor car guy and as soon as your near this car you know its something special. This 66 Galaxie was ordered and sold new at Broadway Motors in Kansas City Missouri to a Mr Edward A Fleming in Prarie Village missouri and was with its original owner for 34 years until november of 1999. The original owner and his son are still alive. I have a copy of the original Title..The Galaxie was sold to a local dealer who turned it in 3 days to another local collector who kept it until my friend purchased it from him 3years ago. It went right in my gagrge and put up on a lift where it remained until earlier this year when I just had to drive it. Ive only driven it 3 times in the last 3 years so I will try to let it go to someone that wants the best R code around for their collection. This car deserves to be in a museum not waiting for me to drive it once in a great while. 1966 Galaxie 500 2 door Fastback with 23,000 original miles Factory Original R Code 427-425 Horsepower Side Oiler engine with Factory twin 4 barrel Holley carbs. Original Toploader 4 speed trans and original 350 gears in the rear. Complete original drivetrain. The Galaxie is a very rare Tu-Tone car consisting of Springtime Yellow wiith a Wimbleton White Painted roof. This car is the only known 66 Galaxie 427 car with tu-tone paint to exist. There are only 9 known 427 Galaxies in the 427 registry out of the 234 cars supposadly built but production figures are sketchy at best. Only 102 Galaxie 500's with the 427 was built. Anyway you put it this is one rare car. Anytime someone sees it they tell me they never knew they built them in 66. And this is the year of the Side oiler engine which is far superior than the earlier ones. How many other cars survived and how many still have their original engines and this car still has its Original Factory long cast Iron Headers with its Original complete Ford installed H Pipe exhaust system with the Ford logo embossed on the mufflers and all date codes present. Also has its original shocks,Shifter,Firestone Tires and all the original tags on the Holley carbs and the tag on the transmission. Original door tag which is in pristine condition and original cowl mounted VIN tag. Engine has its original FoMoCo Dual Quad alum intakeOriginal Dual point distributor Original Radiator. There are no power robbing options even offered on 427 cars no pwr steering or brakes were offered. There ar only 2 options on this car Tinted Glass and a Am-fm radio which im told is pretty rare. Im surprised it really has a radio at all to be honest. Condition of this car is spectactular. The body is pin straight with not even 1 door ding or wave in it. The paint which i believe alot of it is original is still really nice. Im Told the yellow was Blown in on the tops but Im not sure how much has been done. It looks to original to me. The white on the roof has never been touched. The door jambs and inside the trunklid and under the hood are absolutly original. They are as nice as it gets. the cad plating on the lock mechanisms are still perfect and very tag is still present on the interior. The capet tags are still in place and look like they were put there yesterday. I have taken lots of pics documenting this when i went looking for the buildsheet ahich I never found. I do have however a hanwritten tag that was underneith the car between one of the body bushings that clearly has 427 written on it. The door Tag decodes as this Body 63B [Galaxie 2dr Fastback] Color 8M [springtime yellow/Wimbleton white]Trim 66 [Black Crinkle vinyl/Black venetian vinyl trim] Date 05K[Production date of October 5th]Dso 53[Kansas City missouri ordering district] Axle 5 [350 conventional axle ratio] Trans 5 [4 spd manual transmission]. This car must be seen in person to believe its condition. The bumpers and pot metal are as perfect as they get. The interior does not have a mark in it and the seats are still firm and every light bulb works along with the radio. It drives like a brand new car even on those skinny tires. The doors open by just pushing on the button. they shut perfect from 1 nch out by just pushing on the door. I cant believe another one would be anywhere near this car. I am putting my number in this listing for anyone to call me to ask any questions you need answered. If I cant answer them then Im sure my friend who knows everything there is about these car can answer you. My number is 267-246-6903. I also have aal the original books from the glovebox and all title history including a copy of the original missori title in the original owners name dated november 18th of 1965. If you collect or love old R code galaxies then heres your chance to own a true once in a lifetime car that never comes up for sale. Please only contact me if your serious about owning this car and understand its value. A nebraska dealer sold a 66 4 door Rcode car at auction earlier this year for 82,000 dollars. I know there was only 6 4 doors built but Guess to each his own. I would not want a 4 door car at all. This cars reserve is a lot cheaper than that car and even thou it was a spectactular frame off car theres still nothing as good as a true original car with only 23,000 real miles. On Nov-04-11 at 06:46:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to say thanks to everyone who emailed me about the galaxie and gave me information here and there. A good friend of mine who found and got this 427 for me called me last night because he's been getting calls about the car too from friends he has in the ford community and he said its ok for me to list his name and phone number in the auction to help me in the description of the car. He is more informed and has gone over every part of this car along with Dave Walters and both have assured me that the engine is the original one in the car. His name is Tony Capcino and he can be reached at 215-499-2693. Also this car can be a wealth of important information to ford restorers anywhere as this car still retains all its original inspection marks on the rear and its original tag and inspection marks on the trans and the driveshaft stripes are still present and even the 427's original engine tag is still on the engine below the coil. Im sorry as I forgot to take all these important marks but can do so if you need to see them before you bid or buy the car from me. Also whoever winds up buying it from me can come and look the car completely over before buying it and if your not completeely happy with what you see and hear then no harm/no foul. We part as friends. I dont want anyone to think I would stiff somebody on this cars pedigree. It really has to be seen in person to get the feel on how original it really is. For some reason it just has "IT" whatever it is. Doesnt matter if a little kid or a 80yr old woman see it they just fall all over it for some reason. Its pretty amazing the stories i have form just the few times i took it out. People just look with disbelive and shake their had and say I cant believe what Im seeing. Most think its not real because of ignorance to these cars. One guy said nice try but you picked the wrong year to clone it because they stopped making them in 65. That conversation wennt on for a while and i think till this day he thinks I made it. Thanks again. On Nov-04-11 at 15:38:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I tried to change some pictures but ebay wont let me so Anyone who want to see more pics just let me know. I took some closeups today and better pics of the door tag along with the cowl vin stamp so if you need to see the ink stamps or driveshaft stripes or the engine date code then just email me...thanks again for all the interest.
