Vehicle Detail

1963 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hardtop- early race car, with only 5,405 miles showing on odometer! Looks like a max wedge car. Car is wearing old primer, you can see the car used to be Orange at one time. This is an old race car, probably dating back to the 60s era, once raced with a 426 Wedge and a 4 speed. Now has a 68 date code 440 big block, with a Torqueflight. Original color was an off white color. I do not know the history of this race car, but you can give a good once over and see it was an old drag car. I have tried to buy this car just as you see it here, since 1998, and finally got the phone call I had been waiting for last week. I brought the car home, got it running again, and with some hesitation, have decided to sell. I dont have the time or money to restore this car at this time in my life, however this car needs to stop sitting outside and needs someone who will take car of it, and fix it up. This car is now 48 years old, it needs a full restoration. Dig the old (and badly faded) Sox & Martin sticker on the back window... The previous owner claims the 440 is quite nasty with 13:1 compression. I have not tore it down to see how it was built, but I can see roller rockers, headers, Mopar aluminum high rise intake, Edelbrock Carb, Deep Sump oil pan, 727 Torqueflight, and 8 3/4 Posi Trac. I didnt count the gears but I did jack the rear end up and make sure both tires turned the same way. Previous owner says the 727 Torqueflight tranny has around a 3k stall, because the one time he fired the car up, he put it in drive and hit the gas, the car only reved up... and thinking the transmission was out, he just gave it more and more gas... Then at around 3k rpm the car shot up the driveway and nearly went through the garage door! He says car is increadably fast, he didnt drive it again, lol. I did put a new holley blue pump on it, because the previous owner removed the fuel pump to put on his Nova! (How do Chevy guys always end up with these cars!) I also put a battary in the trunk and got the car to fire up... It sounds like a bat out of hell... I have yet to drive it due to dryrotted tires and questionable brakes, and missing lung nuts/ studs on some of the wheels. This is a KILLER MOPAR PROJECT CAR, not a daily driver. The Belvedere has sub-frame connectors welded in, wipers removed and blocked off, heater removed, rear seat removed (one is included- not in best shape). This is where the new owner takes over, it does need a full restoration, but it is a real vintage race car with a 440 big block ready to roam the streets and strips again! This will be a NO RESERVE auction, the highest bidder will be the new owner. Clean Missouri title and keys in hand. Terms of Sale: $200 deposit due within 24 hours after auctions end, remaining balance due within 7 days after auctions end. I would like the car picked up within 2 weeks after auctions end, that is enough time to setup shipping arrangements and have them carried out. I can help load the car, no problem. Located in Kansas City, MO 64152, just south of KCI Airport. Thanks for viewing my auction, be sure to email me with any questions, and MoPar to Ya!On Oct-30-11 at 22:38:10 PDT, seller added the following information: The car does come with a trunk full of parts, like trim, door handles, door panels, emblems, all sorts of stuff. Nothing new, just all used parts off the car at some time in its life. Also wanted to add the starter is giving me some issues, needs to be shimmed or replaced soon becuase it spins freely most the time I try to start the car now. Did have car running again today, motor sounds good... Also wanted to add that the piece between the front bumper and grill is an ALUMINUM piece. Dont know if all the Belvederes got that piece in Aluminum or givin this cars race history, had it might of come off a max wedge car. To answer questions about the body, there is some rust on the car, mainly in the rear quarters, but that is very typical of a car this old, especially in the midwest. Overall body is pretty solid and very strait. Headlights and Tail lights work, the front turn signals/ park lamps still need to be plugged back in. There is a crack in the windshield, all the other glass is good. That should answer some of the common questions I have been getting about the Belvedere ~ thanks for the interest.
